I don't know from where you got these settings but it has nothing to do with good quality. 5000 bitrate produces a horrible quality and the H.264 compression isn't that great either. The best settings i found it to use H.265 and a bitrate that is 2x your framerate. If you shoot at 30fps, go for 60k bitrate

Yes, what you're saying is right for KZfaq and general quality control, but the reason he has it low is because it gets compressed regardless on these social media platforms. Instagram compresses to ~5000-15000

At 1.11 you could just check the box "use vertical resolution" instead of typing it 🙂

If you are slowing the footage down, choose 24 fps or 30 fps depending on how much you're slowing your footage down

The only problem that I have is when I choose H.264 codec instead of the default Apple ProRes (editing on my Macbook Pro 2023. ProRes is great but the file size is humongous) I can't change the bitrate (the option to lock the bitrate completely disappears). Do you know how to fix that by any chance? Right now I am using Davinci 18.6. Thank you!

prores is an uncompressed file format. you can't compress it by selecting bit rate.

Basically what i do, MUST keep it 1080p resolution. I use Lumafusion so don't need to send it to my phone. But keep your mbps below 25 and for the best results (no stutter) use 30fps in camera and in editing. Smash those reels!

I just dont have same export settings as you do, is that because is m1 mac or that the software is free? And also i would like to mention that 5000Kb/s come out very bad quality

It's possible if you're on the free version you won't see the exact same settings.

Yes, the bitrate is too low. The settings he set are horrible. Better to go for H.265 and a bitrate over 50k

Okay, so I’ve watched over 10 videos on this topic now and the reason why is because every single video I watch, each KZfaqr has a different “Restrict to” setting. You say in your video to Restrict to 5,000 Kb/s. Meanwhile, another KZfaqr says to restrict to 45,000 or 50,000. And another says choose Automatic mode. Where are you guys getting your numbers? Idk who to listen to at this point. I tried 5,000kbs and it looked awful on Instagram still.

Instagram recommends 5000-15000, so you're video will be compressed to around that regardless. Play with it

When I try to upload my videos to IG they lose audio. In fact if I edit them in any way they lose audio. Is there a way to fix this?

In export settings, go to audio settings and make sure linear is not selected. Select AAC instead

No matter what, instagram compresses my video and makes it look terrible. No matter how many of these YT videos that say the exact same thing. No idea why you get better results than I'm allowed.

I just rendered in 1080p 15 and 25k bitrate and the same in 4k. I upload them and then they all look te same 😂

IG has improved their quality in the last 12 months but the 4k will be rendered at 1080p in IG.
