Not sure if it's a job upgrade though 😅 Work is hotter and harder as a gardener and I don't actually mind that because you get a workout at work and don't have to really go to the gym but at least I don't have to do all the pool chemical calculations all day anymore. And I'm not that evil I'll actually leaf rake the pool and get anything out if I dropped it in there. Also I now do the gardens at some of the commercial properties where I used to service the pools and will tidy up the pool yard so the pool doesn't get too dirty like it used to and we even get to jump in there when it's too hot if we want.

I worked for my dad doing sidewalks and driveways. He was always pumping and dripping sweat the whole time. Once my older brother grew muscles (we were young) my dad happily gave him that job. It's a heavy hose full of heavy concrete.

Concrete mixer driver here. In Canada we don’t clean anything other than our own equipment and if you need to clean your equipment with my water you wait till I am done rinsing my shoot and fins then you can use (some) of the water from (my) water tank. If that shit happens here. My truck would of left with the concrete sooo fast. Never would seen me again.

You've clearly never ran a shotcrete hose. That is so intense. A pro makes it look simple and usually after the pour or shoot the guy running the hose jumps in and helps out with other critical tasks. He's far from a lazy laborer. I don't envy him at all.

Here in Brazil, usually when building houses, there's no pumper, nor truck. There's only some guys, that receives R$50 (US$10,00) a day, that will make all the concrete, take it to the bricklayer in a wheelbarrow, pour it, and repeat. We call them "servente de pedreiro".

As a steelfixer I can tell you the driver has it was easier than the pumper. You actually need abit of fitness to use that pump. Drivers can barely back up there trucks properly and they do nothing but operate a truck then hose it down? Saying that driving a concrete truck is hard work is delusional.

As a concrete finisher I’m not sure where you are but, on the east coast the pump driver works for us and they do as we tell them. Most of them have no clue about pouring,placing or finishing so they pretty stay quiet and pull their own hose. I’m sure the guys in the video probably feel the exact same way.
@Johnny-bj4sv
@Johnny-bj4sv Жыл бұрын
Hell no, this video ain’t right, my father has been a pumper for 20 something years and the times I had to help him he always did his best to maintain his own equipment. Actually, if he delegated anything pump related or lent someone his pump, there was ALWAYS problems with the whole system. It’s easy plug if the mixture isnt right. Dragging those heavy ass hose for prep, during the pour, and after it’s done was brutal too. The hose can explode and injure someone if not paying attention to the pressure. Also, taking into consideration of how the owners want you to pour and how far you’ll be from the actually site is also a factor too. The wear and tear from all the physical strain really takes a toll on the body. Dudes that only bring the “clean up equipment” generally only have to worry about tools when all said and done. Lastly, I had the chance to encounter lots of concrete mixer trucks and almost 99% never had a clean truck except for one guy who got a new one. As a summary: His job was the reason why I knew that work wasn’t for me. But also the guys who had to clean the mess had only really the job of showing up to help in the first place. No pump= no/less work for a lot of guys.

Moral of the story either become this guys job (I think he’s one of the cement/concrete mixer trucks) because they are mostly there to deliver a load for the pumps, an inspector, or become the boss.

Having FINISHED concrete for a while I AGREE with you! BUT, the boss (company owner 30 years in business), would ONLY give you ONE CHANCE to make mess, show up late, not get ready before the mud got there (two brothers ran finish company, other two brothers drove for batch plants and dispatched for them (so our mud was ALWAYS ON TIME)). If you DID NOT, no matter how much it cost them, your pumper would not get a call for 6 months! We brought a pumper in from TWO COUNTIES AWAY, to pump a footing ACROSS THE STREET from a pumper who cost us a day cleaning up!
