This era was that really blew cycling up in a GOOD BIG way. Lance got MILLIONS to ride. Without Lance we wouldnt have cycling as big as it is today. Johan Bruyneel groomed up Lance and got his best out of him. Everyone needs a JB in their life. ASO/Trek/Shimano/UCI/carbon bike tech etc etc would NOT be as big as they are today without Lance putting in the work and putting in the PED's so he could work and recover even harder. Lance Armstrong IS the cycling icon if we are looking at who motivated more humans to ride bikes than anyone. Love or hate Lance I think he gave a lot of cancer sufferers hope, even though he doped he saved my bro's life as my bro fought his illness and came out the otherside and for that I thank him!

Beating cancer isn't about willpower. That's a crock of shit. Are you saying people who die of cancer just didn't have the right attitude? Yeah, Steve Jobs died of cancer because he wasn't 'good enough.' He didn't have a strong enough 'will' or 'desire' to beat it.

There's some thing about this generation of cycling thats awesome. I think its partly to do with kits and the equipment. If you look at all the bikes they weren't all this wanky carbon fibre SSL stuff. The advertising was shitty, messy, hectic and chaotic. Look at the Mercatone Uno kit, but the point I am making is this; it wasn't about the kit. Pantani did the fastest ever climb on alpe d'huez on a aluminium bike and the image of him in his bandana is more cemented in my memory than the homogenous group of cyclists you see now in the Peleton

Shows how much work is needed to be competitive. The training and tactics involved in winning was superhuman from Armstrong and his team. Doping was a necessity then otherwise you had no chance of even coming close to winning the tour. It was just one of many elements needed to be competitive, all equally important.

Soooo, weren't all of those guys of that era on the "gas"? Lance ran a legit team, he beat the South American and European punks that were doping with harder training and better doping. Literally beat them at their own game! Screw the haters. He played the game of the time and won. Alberto played the same game and is still racing.? Makes a sane educated person think????? How did the euro trash and South American thugs get away with it (slap on the wrist), while the Americans got pinned with life sentences. Again haters gona hate. Lance leveled the playing field with EPO. He kicked the shit out of Europe and South America with training and tactics! Dude is a leader and he is on the rise again! If I were euro trash teams that favored U23 people I would fear American teams that only hire Mature American riders.

Lance does not understand his condition. His DNA was cancerous. The drugs he took was for his disadvantage in having Cancer DNA, when other people or athletes didn't have cancer. If he didn't take the drugs how is it right he compete with Cancer DNA against others who didn't have cancer DNA in sports? In fact if he didn't take the drugs also named as medication, proves that Sports discriminates against people who have a disability. Athletes who don't have cancer and take these drugs, are the people who are doping to give a boost to their performance. Lance legitimately won the Tour de France, and is an incredible athlete who overcame the threat of death of Cancer. According to God, he is not disqualified and retains the Tour de France Wins in his career. God Bless Lance. God is the judge, not man. Congratulations. Show less

you're right dude. the 1930 tdf manual said, "the tour will not provide the riders with drugs." I mean that's about all they should be responsible for. The sponsors need to come back to the sport and just trust that the riders are being safe with their own bodies!

I think I liked your comments at the end of the video a bit more than I cared for the documentary! Being from Texas and knowing how lance was on sports enhancement drugs since the late 90's and more importantly being vocal a bout it with everyone in my home town, I was casted as a crazy dude that was just hating on a fellow Texan, but the fact of the matter was that I was ashamed of being an American, not so much because of the doping, but because the lies and the amount of people that went down because of lance. I don't knock anyone for taking stuff, but what isn't cool is when you acuse others of why you're guilty of!!! Not the Texas way bruh. Anyway, I hope you read my ranting and reply, I could use some inspiration to get back on my bike and ride, I've gotten so unhealthy and fat over the last 24 months that if I don't do something soon My health will decline rapidly. Cheers m8

I know people were turned off by the reported bullying aspect, that and being such a winner, but damn that man trained himself to the limit and did all he had to do to prepare his body and mind to win. The use of PEDs is nothing like the so called mechanical doping or what ever you want to call that crap. All those stripped of their titles from that area should be reinstated and the UCI needs to pulled down their nose and move on.

Again you're right when everything came out, it was entire teams doping. The peloton KNEW what was going on, & so many at the front or saved sprinters were juicing. I don't think they should have taken his titles, disgraced him AND a life ban? That's crazy it doesn't match the crime especially when we SEE superhuman ability across teams w/different athletes.

I've heard champion athletes in every pro sport say pretty much this thing. The rules of the sport are not the written rules of the sport. The rules are what you can get away with. Any competitor who can't get that through there heads will not be a winner. And if they can't they should go home to mommy.

Harley, for some reason I feel you would enjoy watching a recent interview with a global banking whistleblower by the name of Ronald Bernard. Life at the top is in many ways the same in banking as it is in sport. I'm sure you'd see the likenesses if you watch the interview.
