I watched Melanie's binding videos so many times as I was doing the binding on two twin quilts, my first time binding. I don't think I would have used the mitered corners method without Melanie's videos. Her instruction was so clear and enthusiastic that it gave me the courage to forge ahead and complete them. And I was so happy with the results (which is a miracle given my perfectionism streak; quilting presents quite the challenge to that issue!). When I was nearly finished, I learned that Melanie had passed in January, 2022 from cancer. It felt like a friend had died. Many thanks to her husband for continuing her channel which I plan on returning to again and again as I do more quilting projects. May Melanie rest in peace and know that she is continuing to help many others. My heart goes out to her husband and children on their tremendous loss.

Thanks so much for these very clear instructions! I finished a small quilt today, my second quilt ever, and I spent HOURS to figure out how to bind it properly. Compared to any other video I found (and believe me, I HAVE been searching), this video precisely tells you to avoid two problems: First I put the binding on the wrong diagonal together, because the videos I had been watching weren’t as clear about it, like you („outside to outside“), so I ripped a couple of seams apart, which cost me another hour...next was, that my diagonal binding joints happened to land exactly in the corners (I know they shouldn’t...NOW, after watching your video!), then I had to watch four videos, to figure out, how the binding has to be folded in the corners (another hour spent...). As far as I can tell, this is the best video on this topic I‘ve ever seen, please make sure to always keep it accessible, because I will be lost without it, when I finish my next quilt. I had one more problem: As soon as I flipped the binding over and sew the front side (second side) the stitch did not always catch the binding on the back (had to finish it by hand binding 😫), so I‘m eagerly waiting for you to upload part 2.... I don’t want to do this ever again. Regards from Germany, Thumbs up!👍🏻

I love the ease of your videos. I saw this binding technique on a Crafsy video as well, they made a little piece of paper that looks like jeans and placed the crotch of the jeans over the inside of where the pieces meet. Placing the jeans on there shows us to sew on the waist of the jeans not the crotch. Have I made sense to you? Each time I join the binding I think of this.
