Growing indeterminate tomatoes single stem creates massive tomatoes, healthy plants, and saves a ton of space in the garden.
As a bonus, we also talk about determinate tomatoes and how we can grow and prune them.

Cool. I have a wall of morning glories vines and indeterminate plants starting up it as well. Cool wall of tomatoes and vines soon. I enjoy your vids. Gardening is beautiful and wise. Soon we will have to provide all fruit and vegetables ourselves. Beautiful vid. Beautiful garden. Your a great woman. Why can't my wife get into gardening? She don't clean house either. Maybe trade in time. Ha ha ha I'm 52. And first time in my life I DIG gardening. I'm hooked. Beautiful addiction

It really is a beautiful addiction lol 😂 I swear every year that I’m going to plant less, but instead every year I plant more and expand.

Thanks for sharing. I'm glad that u said that the fruit on a sucker is smaller...I had a flashback to last Summer. I was debating about removing the suckers from the indeterminate, which all r cherry type tomatoes. I definitely will be propagating n composting those suckers. I pray that we all have abundant crops. 🙏😘

The only caveat to this I think is if you are growing in somewhat smaller containers, they aren't gonna max out their height anyway. I wonder if pruning too much in that situation can reduce the harvest a lot. Also this year I planted some of mine next to a chain link fence so I can tie some of those suckers to it with twine. I guess the same could apply if you are using those cages to support them instead of a single stake. But this single-stem method maximizes horizontal space so it's probably the best overall in many cases.

I really love the idea of planting them near a fence. It’s a free trellis. Are you letting the tomatoes go wild or are you doing any pruning? Im excited to see what your harvest looks like! Keep me updated.

Pruning correctly, generally greatly improves yield over the course of the season. Initially it may reduce the yield the first few weeks to a month but once the plant matures you will gain the initial loss and quite a bit more in the 3rd month of growth and beyond.

Well if you aren’t sure you could try planting them and add three bamboo stakes in the ground behind them. If they begin to get tall you can stake them using the bamboo. I would go with at least 6ft tall bamboo. It is pretty easy to source and cheap. Just one idea.
