1) Nutnfancy has been vindicated! Fanny pack FTW! 2) Trying to get your thumb INTO the orange loop to pull while not looking is the limiting factor. If you were to add a pull (like a small plastic ball) then your hands would find it faster and not have to go in the loop. Just a thought.

I've been using a belly band for nearly a month now. Once I got used to it, it gave me a better peace of mind that I can still have access to my CCW while I'm running or cycling. I did an 11-mile run with it this past weekend and all of my equipment was secure and had no distractions whatsoever. Godspeed!

Good info, I think it's also a great platform to begin with. When I bike or walk I don't want anything weighing down my shorts. I usually carry a crossbody sling and/or backpack so I can bring my book, water, snack, basic first aid items, camera and light soft armor. So depending on your need for what your doing, your fanny pack can be very useful. The tourniquet attached is a good idea too.

I was in law enforcement for 35 years, 32 of which was plain clothes. In the 90’s, when we all dropped the suits, we started using fanny pack holsters in the summer. Fanny packs were in then, when fashions changed, you could always tell who the cops were by the fanny packs. Same as with the Banana Republic vests. I now use a backpack with a concealed carry compartment and can also have my carbine with me, although it’s awkward carrying a backpack everywhere. I just found my old fanny packs and you know, for certain situations (wearing shorts) it’s a great option! Thanks for this, BTW checked out Hill people. Bottom line, CC is a pain in the ass, but I’d rather have it and not need it, than not have it and need it! 🙏💪👍

That may be true where you live, but in cities like LA, Miami, or anywhere where fashion is a big deal including most tourist traps on earth, fanny packs are extremely common. If you were to walk the shops on south beach, you'd be lucky to find 50% of dude not wearing one, though they almost always wear them over the shoulder. I love this guy but I am sorry off body carry is not a great idea for EDC. I get he likes elastic band shorts but it is better to sacrifice in your preferred clothing method than off body carry. I respect his opinions but I can’t agree on this one. Granted there are special exceptions to every rule but they should only be utilized when you have to not because they are a more comfortable option.

@@jessebarnett4205 I see a fanny pack as much less of an off body carry than a backpack or CC purse. As long as you arent loading the thing up to storm Kabul, it is designed to stay on the body and remain comfortable all day. Sure, there is a single clip/buckle holding it to the body, but most are designed that is it right above one of the front pockets of the pants, and mostly covered by a slack arm.

this is how I carry, too, with a different bag, but same concept. Good low viz carry for public events. The other option I found for EDC when we are in must wear shorts weather... is one of the elastic belly wrap holsters. Trouble is that causes you to sweat alot. I think this fanny pack or small over the shoulder sling bag is the way to go. Sure it costs a couple seconds, but this way you for sure will carry every summer day, since your wallet, knife, gun, tourniquet etc are all in one same bag, every day.

Used to wear one, transitioned to IWB and cargo shorts. Not much for running anymore, anyway, so it works for me. My oddity is carrying at 6 o'clock to avoid the jelly roll interference with appendix (I'm almost 60) and the difficulty of concealment at 3-5 o'clock. Requires practice, but so does every other option.

I use a similar set up for running, hiking and hunting, but it is a chest kit bag. ONE MODIFICATION SUGGESTION I would highly recommend to you is a LARGE pull tab attached to a small paracord loop sewn into the corner of the front cover. So instead of trying to use fine motor skills to loop your thumb through the zipper pulls, there is a large webbing tab to grab at the corner that guarantees a swift, solid pull every time. You would set up your zippers the same way, leaving a little opening at the corner. Thank you for your service. God bless you and yours.

Many years ago, I had a fanny pack where the concealed compartment was attached by Velcro. That way, all you had to do was grab the front part of the bag and pull it down to get access to the firearm. You could probably speed up your draw and eliminate the time that it takes to grab your orange loops, by adding Velcro on the inside of that back pouch and eliminating the zipper pulls. My bag also had a "rain flap" that covered the opening so you couldn't tell that there was another compartment back there. You could add something like that to cover up the zipper, or even remove it, if you added the Velcro. Also, I absolutely love Hill People Gear's gear. I use one of their chest rigs all the time and keep my backup weapon in it.

Agree with you, have been carrying this way for about 30 years, 20 as a cop. The waistband carry got really old. Since Tommys packs is out of business I decided to try the Galco fanny pack............turned out to be the best Ive ever carried. The belt to the pack actually stretches and is made of strong neophrene I believe, but is ultra comforatble. Pull the zipper and pack opens up to weapon fully secured by a small holster that actually tilts up so the weapon can be easily drawn. With the other packs and if carrying a stricker fired handgun I would never carry with one in the chamber, with with this pack the weapon trigger area is fully enclosed. Its not cheap but i bought two, a large one for my HK 45C and a smaller one for my G26, You might want to check this pack out, believe you will fall in love with it as I did

Another similar option is a small cross-chest "messenger" style tactical bag. Lots of non-CCL folks are using them, especially in urban settings, so they blend in fine and can offer people different placement options and essentially become a chest rig. Plus you can keep them in that position for driving. A few companies are making ones specifically with a dedicated holster pocket (including the trigger guard or a similar system).

@@fitness403 You're welcome! Let us know what you end up getting. Mind you, it's just one facet of carrying that may have limited application depending on your activities and where you live. But if it helps fill a gap, and makes carrying more comfortable and efficient in those situations, win!

I use my fanny pack by 5.11 Select Carry Pistol Pouch Style # 58604 while exercising, and a holster is not a viable option. I can wear it around my waist or cross sling it over the shoulder! Instead, onto my stomach or side of my body because I'm hunched downwards to the bike's handlebar while riding. It's not perfect and may not be the best pouch for you, but it has worked for my G27 for about seven years while doing something active. I think most people will either love it or hate it. Thanks for the video.

You could speed this up considerably by replacing the orange cord with something more rigid that would stay in a loop formation. Off the cuff I’m thinking you could cut to length and feed a piece of clothes hanger through the center of the paracord and bend it to shape. That way you could work with the same shape every time and know what to expect. Absolutely love your videos. Keep doing what you’re doing.

Great concept. I don’t carry, but I would like to make a suggestion on your cord pulls. I would be more comfortable pulling the cord with balls attached instead of loops. Just a suggestion and thank you for your service

My Leather holster in a fanny pack has string loops inside the holster compartment on either side. If you set the zippers up correctly and leave the cord hang outside you can easily open the compartment. It almost drops open. Thanks to this video I’ll be adding a blaze orange loop of paracord to make it easier to find under stress. Good video, very helpful.

I carried a fanny pack for years before it was legal, Smith model 65 ss revolver .357. DA. The pack is slow but better than no gun. My cousin said "i bet I can grab that gun before you can" and I said watch out for the knife.

Before it was legal? Was there a jurisdiction where carrying in a fanny pack was illegal but not concealed carry in general?

I've been backpacking for years and I've never carried a weapon. Mostly because I would never use it and it would be more weight. But my biggest problem has been consealment of the pistol. I really don't want to open carry around other hikers. I feel that it just sends the wrong message. This is exactly what I've been looking for. Excellent solution right here.

When I lived in L.A., California, I worked for myself out in the field and ALWAYS wore a fanny pack with a 380 in it. It was for my firearm ONLY. One zipper pull from right to left and pull it out with my right hand. I didn't need a trigger guard cause there was nothing in it to interfere with my trigger. I figure my time would be around 1.5 to 2 seconds. Thanx for the video my Brother 👍 ⚔️ ✝️ 🇺🇲

The only thing I see that is questionable here, is the amount of sweeping your doing across your weak side hand and arm with a hot weapon in a high stress situation. Props on all the videos. They are greatly appreciated

I also had the same concern. My fix was open fanny pack with the support hand, grasp weapon with the dominate hand, move support hand to chest, draw weapon and begin to drive the weapon toward the threat; last, the support hand moves to catch up. Orientating the Hellcat downward might also be a solution. Any thoughts about the need for two hands to access the weapon? One hand keeping the threat at bay could make single-handed weapon retrieval difficult from a fanny pack. I have considered purchasing a fanny pack/rue/cross-body bag or whatever the younger generation is calling them today. The acronym KISS ones to mind. Great thought and great video.

Good option IF and only if you practice with it. I truly believe you should have a sub 2 sec to an accurate first shot no matter how you carry. There are also some drawbacks to this method. One being it’s hard to do a surreptitious draw. Also, its very easily taken from you in a robbery. So keep that in mind… but having different carry options is always a good thing. Practice, Practice, Practice!
@connorperrett9559

My friend, every option is a good option if and only if you practice with it. Even someone open carrying in a belt holster is likely to fumble their draw in a life threatening situation if they don't practice it.
