I just picked up a 1945 520 this weekend. Only missing the funnel. Need to disassemble, clean and fire it up! Didn’t even know it was a Coleman until this vid

Just a suggestion. When you start to separate cotter keys, use a small pair of side cutters. Less likely to scratch surface below. Love your work.

Wow! Thank you Ernie! This is the type stove my Dad carried during WWII. I’m retired from the Army myself and carried something similar but in my opinion not quite as good. One of my Sergeant’s gave it to me when he retired in 1969. Lost it in the Sabine River when my canoe flipped. My Brother failed to re-secure the packs to the canoe and lash down the cover. Yeah, still mad at him! Think I’ll try eBay to find one

you should try powder coating the bare metal parts that are subject to rust....it protects them and looks great

I have one that's almost in mint condition from the factory but I don't know how to take the wrench off don't want to scratch it

Dont you find you have to be careful with vinegar and cleaning, I used it on my 123r and I could see the copper in patches on the windscreen afterwards

Where do you get your carbon felt from?

You can get in in one of the big home improvement stores in the plumbing section. It comes in approximately 10" x 10" squares. It is used to protect walls when welding pipes and is usually marked as a welding blanket.
