After the Silver Age, the Bronze Age is my favorite era in comics. It's the era where I first was aware of comics so it has a special place iny heart. It was nice to hear you guys talk about this creative explosion in comics. A great era in comics. I'm a subscriber now.

1983 Music: Blue Monday (New Order), Every Breath You Take (Police), Separate Ways (Journey), Bowie, Echo & The Bunnymen... Yeah you're right, never realized how much great music came out that year! Great Vid Guys!

Hi Richard and John. 1). The pregnant Joker story reminds me of those wacky Silver Age stories like Superman having the head of a lion - just a silly idea played for laughs. But the mainstream press (perhaps understandably) wouldn't be aware of this heritage. What annoys me though is how many reports show that the writer had not read this Joker story because the so-called pregnancy is explained as Joker ingesting a part of Clayface when Zatanna grinds Joker's head into the mud with her foot. So there is a logic to the situation, however zany. 2). Everything I learned about preparing for the zombie apocalypse, I learned from The Walking Dead. 3). Doctor Doom has always carried himself with a sense of nobility that many other villains lack and this, coupled with his emotional vulnerabilities, lend much weight to the view that he is Marvel's greatest villain. 4). I love The Sandman on Netflix too John and even watched "A Dream Of A Thousand Cats" with my cat, perhaps a risky thing to do in light of the episode's premise. 5). Iron Fist's first series was good but really peaked near the end; I guess that with nothing left to lose, Claremont and Byrne gave it their all with Sabretooth in #14 and the X-Men in #15.

Thanks for the advice on the polybag for UF4.. I have been on the fence about removing my copy from the bag.... beings that it came shipped from marvel in the bag.. but thinking about it... the book can not be graded in the bag... so it (the bag) really serves no purpose. Both of your reasoning about the damage the bag can actually cause pushed me off the fence... my UF4 is now out of the bag... I'm pleased to say there is no crease... though one corner is not perfect.. 9.6 at best . still awesome :) Thanks for the advice!

Agree about the modern age. Have a solution. Modern from 1992-2010. Ultimate fallout 2011 begins a new age Millennial age? UF 4 is so significant it needs to be the start of a new age.

Changing the 25-year rule to the 40-year ("Old Fart") rule was a nice switch. It's great to hear your reminiscence on books from the early 1980s, which were markedly more interesting than those from the late 90s IMHO.

Here’s a rule that’s way past its prime; first print or no print. When I was a kid collecting in the 90’s, this was commonly accepted but post 2010, the opposite is often true. Anyway, thanks for another fun show.

When you mention 1983 as a year for music, no argument there. However, my all-time favorite artist Billy Joel released An Innocent Man, which was a massive hit sales wise, but as a fan of his work, my least favorite album. Part of it may be that it homaged an era that was not dear to my heart, but it was also overplayed to death. Needless to say, my favorite songs on that album were not radio singles and thus, not ubiquitous on the air. (I do agree with Richard about 1978; that year is my all-time favorite in pop culture in general. Music, tv shows, comic books, etc. I was 10 and love that era.) Another comic with the Tattooz is Fantastic Four 252, the infamous sideways issue.

Good afternoon Gentleman good afternoon community. Ah the Bronze Age, what a time of marvels! Great show as always. So today's question John, as you are the music man, why do we not look on comics as per Music via the decade, Discard the ages! You have touched often on the link between music and comic culture, pop culture. My music of choice begins in the 60s and continues still. But music triggers the memories from each decade. Just asking is all? We all have our favourite decade. Keep up the great work in Twenties Cheers the Gold Key Four Color Kid from Downunda!

ASM#238: I think the Tattooz situation is a lot more complex than what has occurred, which is CGC deeming it a green label and the community following their lead. There are at least 18 Marvel comics that have been recorded to have include tattooz. The closest sibling to ASM#238 is FF#252 which also had the advertisement on the cover - none of these books, including Fantastic Four, have 100% inclusion of the tattooz. The idea that every single #238 left the printers with an insert seems far fetched when we look at the haphazard approach to the other issues of that month Regarding the history of 'harvesting' tattooz (harvesting was mentioned by Overstreet at one point - pulling the insert from another copy of #238 or the aforementioned FF#252) once again, I'm not sure we've been steered right on this either; the urban myth is you pull them from a $3 FF252, throw them in and CGC give you a blue label! you laugh to the bank! However, as you stated the tattooz are inserted into the book and they align with the top edge of the book - straight. It's very difficult to find other tattooz books with the staples in the correct position so the tattooz can be inserted correctly into your ASM...which might have some really big staple pulls where the tatz where ripped out by a over-eager child! Great show and thanks!

Hey John and Richard. I’m a big fan of your show and am really enjoying the Old Fart Rule segment as I was collecting comics as a teenager back then. I speculated on that copy of ASM 238 back in 83 and have a direct and Canadian price variant. Not sure what happened to my tattooz from my direct copy but they are missing. Oh well, 1 out of 2 isn’t terrible.

Regarding SIKTC, I do think it is a great modern book to have in the PC. I believe the book was heavily spec’ed on when it was announced as optioned with Netflix, then another bump when the amazing writer/director Mike Flanagan (Dr. Sleep, Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Club) was announced as the show runner. The book’s value began to drop after Mike Flanagan left Netflix for Amazon to take on The Dark Tower for a series epic (which I’m extremely excited for, he truly is a modern horror aficionado although his style of storytelling isn’t for everyone as he tends to stay character-focused over jump-scares/gore). Regardless, I think there is a cache of great directors and writers that could take on the SIKTC project, with the book becoming a potential “Walking Dead”-level collectors item. Just my opinion, it makes a GREAT read. Maybe people just got jaded from all of the variant covers, especially once House of Slaughter dropped. Great content John and Richard 💥

I wasn’t alive in the 70’s so this isn’t some argument being made on behalf of the era I grew up in, however, in my opinion Music and Film both peaked in the early to mid 1970’s

RE: UF4 poly bag. I have one still in the bag. Can see a color rub so would never be a 9.8. I doubt I ever take it out because to me a still sealed copy is the book in its original form. As a collector I prefer it how I would have gotten it off the shelf. Does Richard who has every version still have one in a poly bag? I also have a 9.8 so maybe I’m speaking from privilege 😂

The Ms. Marvel titles were finally printed in Vol. 2 ‘Marvel Super-Heroes’ title issues #10 & #11. Sabertooth is on the cover with Ms. Marvel issue #10. As John stated it closed Ms. Marvel’s original run. Why they didn’t just print the last two issues under their original banner I’ll never understand. 🙃
