One thing about dry brushing looking chalky and dusty - that *can* be a good thing when painting stone!

Yeah. Metal seems good with moisture, but tiny flakes of dry paint I kind of like on old stone.

The "Rule of Threes" idea for terrain coloration is one I've used, but never heard stated outright. It does make for more realistic coloration in terrain. The foam "moss" idea is brilliant. I can see why it would be good for terrain work, as it should be really stuck on there, since its the stuff you couldn't pull loose when you pulled off the extra. THis also means you can use the same pulled tuft until you've completely worn it down.

I also would have sprayed, but sometimes it's easier to paint by hand if that's what you're set up for, or if you don't have the spray can or gun handy. I like the "rule of 3" tip, and definitely the foam moss. Ingenious!

I'll have to start adding more grass and tuff varies to my bases. It's a useful technique. 1:54 Your cat likes watching you drybrush your terrain pieces and relaxed. It's wearing a vest strap so it doesn't go stray on your hobby desk? 🐈❤

Why didn't you rattle-can prime them before you put them together? A single can of Rustoleum black primer would probably do 50-100 pieces and have some left over.
