Hey, AJ Wilson 🙋🏻‍♂️ I actually do have one on ND filters that you can see here 👉🏼 ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a6uSbJeBmcmuZ2Q.html ). I recommend the B+W filter in that video, however that was before the Peter McKinnon one from PolarPro came out. They are close to the same price and I would definitely go with the PolarPro version now. 👍🏼

So, I have a question(or a few) on monopods... would a monopod with feet(either separate or otherwise) be good for shooting indoors, in my space I want to do videos in??? have a limited amount of space, and want to have a cell phone, or perhaps, if I needed more height, a loc-line and clamp setup, to do overhead shots, again, with a phone, specifically a pixel 4a. Also, would something like that work outside, again, with feet??? although, I could build a base, to anchor the feet to if I needed extra stability. In both scenarios, I would likely be the only person taking video, and picture the use, as say, for a youtube "talking head" type video, or where I'm either showing something from above or showing something while I'm looking at the camera. I'm looking into monopods, because I watched a video from "adam savage" that was done recently, and he uses one for his "Tested" KZfaq channel, because it's quicker setup, by a long shot, than what his guys set up for him, and all the stuff he uses is collapsible and/or small enough originally, to fit into a small bag he uses for his iphone video camera gear, which would be my goal, just have a small bag, and/or backpack with cheaper, but light, stuff. Basically anything carbon fiber and cheap would work, so long as it's not too cheap, if you know what I mean. I would only need anywhere between 5-6Ft of monopod, and a base, probably detachable, with as much cost savings as is possible, while keeping things lighter. I'm not sure what a good price is, but I was hoping for something readily available, for 60-70$ at most all told, is that entirely too cheap, for my barebones shoestring budget??? Could I go cheaper??? Should I look at something other than a monopod??? I have a cheap tripod that came with a telescope I got one year, that's probably worth about probably 5-10$ in a store, if that much, but I don't like the fact that the 3 feet(legs) get in my way, and I bump it way too much, because of it. **Edit** Here's a link to a monopod that claims to be carbon fiber, is the 40$ or so, for it, a bad price, and what do you think about it??? If something like that would work, then, I would need collapsible attachable feet, but the question is, what do I look for In feet??? www.amazon.com/dp/B017KIT1NG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_YWa7FbHNMNZ3Z?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

That link you left is doesn’t have a head either so you’d have to buy that as well. My favorite one with feet is the Sirui that I mentioned in the video, but something to keep in mind is that regardless of what feet you put on it, it’s probably going to lean a little bit on you so your shots won’t be completely straight. I get that you want to keep it as cheap as possible, but getting quality for under a couple hundred dollars isn’t very realistic, especially if you want carbon fiber. The problem with getting cheap stuff is that you quickly realize it doesn’t meet your needs and you end up paying even more in the long run. Have you looked into a gorilla pod that you can just attach to just about anything?

Hey, but as far as I understand, you can use Manfrotto monopod's legs to mount your camera directly onto them as well, right? there is some small adapter thing which you can screw onto the legs and mount even the video head onto it.. correct me if I'm wrong.. all in all, which one would you suggest to buy to be using with a Sigma 120-300 f2.8 S lens and a canon m6 mk II mirrorless as well as with a canon 1dc and 5d? I am also interested in ifootage cobra monopod only with a Manfrotto's head, but as for today - my best bang for a buck is a manfrotto kit. great review btw.

There are some monopods that are made as one piece and so the heads are not interchangeable. You’ll have to read the description of the product you’re looking at to be sure. As far as suggestions, I would say one of the two options I mentioned in the video would work equally well for those camera combinations.

BTW, Sir, Do you have any videos on filming at night and/or outside at night. I'm having real trouble making quality videos with appropriate lighting so that the video isn't choppy while moving around. I made the mistake of not checking the tech's on the camera and it's not low-light. (I didn't see your video on cameras prior to my purchase). Completely new to this, but I want to get better.
@CamberFilmSchool
@CamberFilmSchool 4 жыл бұрын
Brent Heird, I don’t have any yet but I’ll put that on my list. I know filming at night is tricky, but one thing to watch out for is to not think that a better “low light” camera will make your footage better. Check out this video I made on sensor sizes (which affects low light performance) and you’ll see some examples of how changing the lighting made my Canon t2i look almost the same as my Canon 5Dm3. 👉🏼 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gLZgobBot9K0in0.html

Hi, I've Zhiyun Crane 2 Gimbal. I'm looking to buy an extension monopod. Some monopods has it's folding legs. Now, the question is, as I've already Zhiyun Crane 2, which comes with folding legs, so I want monopod without legs. I mean only the telescopic one. Also, it would save money. So, is it possible for me to buy a monopod without tripod legs under which I can fix Zhiyun crane's legs? Also, which monopods are compatible with Zhiyun Crane 2? Can fibre monopod lift the weight of Zhiyun Crane + DSLR Camera + Lense? Please let me know your suggestion. Thank you.
@CamberFilmSchool
@CamberFilmSchool 3 жыл бұрын
I have used to have the Zhiyun crane 2 as well, and I would not suggest trying to attach the threaded tripod legs from that to the bottom of a monopod because it is not designed to have that kind of stress on it (and I doubt you would even be able to find a monopod with that kind of thread on the bottom). Most monopods with the foldable feet are designed to flex and move whereas that Zhiyun attachment is not and any sideways stress from being on the bottom of a monopod would probably snap the feet. And yes, any of the monopods I talked about would easily hold the weight of all that. People use cinema camera rigs that are over 10lbs with no problem on monopods.

Thank you for your reply. I see the Manfrotto MVMX Pro is toooo expensive...! It's more than half of the price of Zhiyun Crane 2! I don't know why they are selling it so expensive. It's made of Aluminum!

hi there. I have a Sirui P-424S and I like the bigger feet and how sturdy it feels but I hate the twist locking mechanism....and 3 years later I feel that the locks dont tighten as well as before...so I'm thinking of getting a Manfrotto Xpro- I have a Manfrotto head that pans and tilts. I know the manfrotto has smaller feet etc but the locking mechanism seems more secure. am I wrong? The feet have been improved a bit over the older manfrotto monopods (but not as good as the Sirui)...I would never let a monopod stand on its own with a camera on top! Nope...but Is nice to have those feet for video work. Any thoughts? Thanks
@CamberFilmSchool
@CamberFilmSchool 2 жыл бұрын
Yea, I agree with you on the twist locks. I much prefer my Manfrotto now with the flip locks. I haven’t had any issues with the smaller feet on my Manfrotto monopods. Like you said, I don’t actually plan on leaving the camera standing on it without me there. The feet are just enough to help with stability but don’t get in the way.
