I've done alot of trips. I ride alot. Not "Itchy boots" trips. But trips in Europe. And every time I end up at home. No matter how hopeless the situation looked, I enden up at home. I must say, I support your Russia trip. You meet the people and I'm sure that your films will show that. No politics, just people. That's another experience of mine, travelling alone. I meet people in a way which is more difficult travelling in groups. One sweet memory is riding into the town square in Bologna-Sur-Mer (France) having a breakfast at the local baker, saying "Salut" to the locals buying bread in their dressing-gown. Thank you!

I have said this before- you are like a therapist! You say the things that I have been taught, not rocket science: we have to COMMIT to a way of achieving our adventure, or find a way of tolerating NOT doing them (which includes NOT complaining about not going on your adventure!). Perfectly put. I have been travelling by motorcycle for many years and leading group rides. I have another saying. People who really want to ride make excuses to go riding. I love you man! Best channel on KZfaq. Some time ago while my mate and I were doing a motorcycle tour of Tasmania (part of Australia) we met a French man. He was smoking a cigarette and enjoying the scenery. We asked him what is he doing in Australia and he said that he wanted to see the world on his motorcycle. When we met him he had already been on the road for 6 months. His motorcycle was a Honda 150cc overloaded with luggage. This proves as you have stated several times - that you can tour on any bike! Keep up the good work. Best wishes from Australia.

Although I am a novice in motorcycle touring, but combined with my actual use, I found a 150CC off-road motorcycle in China (not the kind of professional sports tool). Enough for me to traverse any place worthy of adventure and souvenir. Including highways. 150CC means that the motorcycle is relatively light (138KG), and 3.32 gallons of fuel is enough for me to travel 279.6 miles on any road. And it doesn't cost a lot of money.

Fair enough!
@user-wf7tl7er7f
@user-wf7tl7er7f Жыл бұрын
@@motorcycleadventures Buying a motorcycle in China including a maximum 150CC does not need to pay additional taxes, you only need to buy very cheap insurance. In fact, another very important problem is that the quality of motorcycles larger than 150CC made in China is very unreliable. For example, within 10 kilometers of a brand-new motorcycle, the brake system is detached from the frame, and the motorcycle frame has an irreparable structural fracture within 2,000 kilometers. That's why I'm reluctant to buy a Chinese motorcycle over 150CC.

@L--Z
@L--Z Жыл бұрын
@@steverussell9340 If you find it's too ambitious after you started, you can always go home or modify your trip. For example, I once planned a five month thru hike on the 2650 mile long Pacific Crest Trail, but injury stopped me after two months. Technically this hike was a fail, but I still got to hike 850 miles thru the Cascade Mountains. Best Fail EVER! It was still a memorable and life altering trip. If you travel solo, who cares if your planned itinerary changes?

Fortunatley my wife support my trips. The only thing i have to make sure is to inform her every 2 o3 3 days that I'm fine - fair enough. Over the many years I travell I learned another lesson: Less is more. The more stuff you take with you, the more you have to be careful not to lose it. I had to learn that the hard way. Planning is good to get an idea of whether the trip and visit of the places is feasible in time. But you shouldn't stick to it slavishly: things often turn out differently than you think or you find an unplanned beautiful side route: be open to the unexpected

Thank you, my Friend. Recently I've been enlightened that my glaucoma may cause eyesight problems as I age. Today I am 68. In 2006 I rode the adventure of my life. Left Key West FL after 56.652 miles 178 days visiting 49 States (I like to say I hold the record from Key West to Prudhoe Alaska and back, mine was just the longest) I returned to Key West a changed person. I tell people the same thing just save some money and go. Recently purchased a T700 spent money getting it ready for another multi month adventure, then I got the word about my eyesight. I felt the next adventure was doomed. I just watched this inspirational video seemed you were speaking directly at me. The planning has started I will leave Key West 4/30/2024 for possibly my last but for sure my best adventure yet. Thank you Friend. A2A Addicted to Adventure Tom

My favorite photographer, the late William Henry Jackson (1883-1942), had wanderlust. He traveled the USA shooting pioneer era photographs for the US Geological Survey and also the early railroads. In the late 1800's, he photographed the Siberian Railroad System and scenes of Siberia while traveling with the "World's Transportation Commission". Many of these early images of Siberia still exist and some can be found online. Jackson's out-of-print autobiography, "Time Exposure", is worth searching out.

@@L--Z Indeed, old Baikal railroad is still exist and actually functioning. It was built somewhere on the edge of 19th century. I loved to go for a hiking to that part of Baikal. Thanks Pavlin. I have the will And I’ve just returned from a weekend in Wales from Ireland. However, I do not have the free time very often. That is why I appreciate even the short trips. :-)

Hi Pavlin, you are right. In fact you could say you only need 1 thing. The will to travel. If you have the will to travel you will find the time and everything else. As you say some people are over thinking it and that they have to do long trips. 20 litres of fuel and 1 day and you have a trip / adventure. If you can not afford 20 litres of fuel sell your motorbike and stick to watching Netflix. From that day trip you can move to a weekend trip with an over night stay and then you will be hooked and will wonder why you didnt start travelling sooner. Rob

Hi Pavlin, I loved that vid as it is so much to the point. I´m surrounded by man my age owning a bike telling me constantly that they can´t go for a trip (no matter if it´s short or long) due to "reasons". Some might be valid, some are definitely excuses as you mentioned. They envy me when I´m telling them that I plan a trip, go for it or came back from one, but the next thing they tell me is that they had "obligations" cos otherwise they would have joined me for sure (another set of excuses). So they go on dreaming of "once doing" the trip they always wanted to do or go on watching youtube vids about motorcycle trips. My travel companion is such an example when he turned 50 a decade ago he bought a nice GSX 1250 FA and always dreamed about doing trips. But the only trips he managed until we became acquainted some 2 years ago have been the nearest surrounding of where he lifes. I told him that - when he is old and in a rest home the only thing he´ll have left are the memories about the trips he has done, but if he hasn´t done any of his "dream trips" he´ll regret it at this point in life. Even worse - he´ll not having any chance to catch up on what he missed. That may have triggered him somehow to use his "garage queen" as originally intended. Last year we went to Croatia (Jandranska Magistrale). He learned a lot about motorcycle travel, packing gear etc. - improved over the winter months what needed improvement and this year we´ll go for the second half of the Jadranska down to Dubrovnik, Mostar etc.. Some can be saved, some will dream until their earthly existence. Stay safe my friend.

I got myself 2000 XT600e. It was like 3000 euros. It was left in storage for like 5 years after my friend had used it to trips like Finland to Ukraine. Finland to Romania etc. It was driven about 40tkm's and my friend had bought it for about same price, but cause of long storage brakes had seized, carbs clogged etc. So all-in-all you don't really need that expensive equipment to travel if you actually want to.

I find generally people who will never do anthing out of the ordinary, try to discourage an individualistic minded person to not do anything. I had slightly unusual travel destinations and co workers always attempted to discourage me from carrying them out, they were mostly not aboard a motorbike except a solo trip i did around Northern Spain. I travelled allover Russia including Moscow to Vladivostok Travelled allover Georgia in a russian van stopped constantly by the police Made a ton of great friends and had interesting adventures every time. There is never a good excuse not to do our own thing
