I was a 92Y (formally 76Y) 🤣Supply Clerk, while stationed in Iraq; so I consider myself an EXPERT on MREs Just by singing a song... "MRE... MRE... IT'S GOOD FOOD FOR YOU, IT'S GOOD FOR ME... MRE... DON'T EVER QUIT... BECAUSE WITHOUT YOU, I MIGHT HAVE TO SHT " MREs are preservatived food; it's designed to fill your stomach Safely, WHILE IN A COMBAT ZONE. It's neither COMFORT FOOD, much less than CUISINE. That's crap, that will fill your body, to keep you healthy, until you die, in combat. So, when you really think about it, you would be better off eat a half-eaten pizza, after a homeless person , before eating an MRE. .

Damn, MREs have come a long way since I was active duty, I served towards the end of the Cold War (1983-1986), we avoided our MREs unless we were starving or didn’t bring cash to the field exercise. If you are American, then thank them for what. No undemocratic country has ever threatened the US of A. All wars are fought in foreign territory to “defend democracy”. All countries that have ever attacked the U.S.A. were democratic ones. Of course, not in the big players countries, just the small and helpless ones. I don't blame the soldiers, but, effectively, they are kill-squads to fight for commercial and corporate interests.

For all the new soldiers out there. Here's a blast from the past. Called a Ranger Cookie. Made from the coffee creamer and sugar packets. Make a small packet from aluminum foil. Mix the sugar and coffee creamer together inside the aluminum package. Seal all four sides. Cook on a fire to melt the sugar and creamer together. It will harden as it cools. Tastes like English toffee candy.

Most of the MREs were tasteless but when that all you have to eat it's better than starving. From someone who had nothing to eat most days. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS YOU for donating them because without them I would have starved to death. So if possible please if you can find a way please donate as much MRE s or emergency food boxes to homeless shelters. I absolutely loved it and they thought I was nuts for eating it. It wasn’t till years later that they told me no one ate the bread because it constipates you and that’s why they were always given laxatives when coming back in from the field. And then you get the nausea. And there will always be someone piping up with "herp, derp, Gatorade!" except Gatorade tastes like crap. It's 100% better if you can actually eat the foods that have the minerals that form the electrolytes and maybe drink real fruit juices for those minerals and resultant acids as well.
