I have accumulated some REALLY good skin like powders lately as well as continued to love ones that have been favorites for ages. I thought I would let you know my top powders that leave your skin looking like skin; not a powdered, cakey mess.
**I didn't explain well enough the difference between a setting powder and a finishing powder, so here is the short versionl :)
Setting Powder: Meant to "set" your foundation, help it not move around, and prolong the wear of your makeup altogether.
Finishing Powder: Something meant to apply at the "finish" of your makeup...to either buff everything together or simply put a veil over your look; leaving you with a filtered look. The powders marketed for this don't always have the setting ability and will not do the best job at ensuring makeup underneath doesn't move throughout the day.
I am sure that others have different feelings on the differences, but in my experience, these are the main differences between the two. :)

Love the hourglass veil.....The Charlotte tilbury loose powder left a grayish cast on my face, other than that and the smell it was a nice powder.

I bought the Hourglass powder in radiant light to use as a finishing powder because of you and I am so glad I listened to you!!! I never tried the La Met powder , but I wish I had the chance, now ordering the Flower powder will suffice because I am still on the hunt for a great setting powder.😘

I am in my forties and have always hated powder even when my skin was super oily. I’ve always used quick setting, non tacky foundations. Now, that my skin is changing I’m struggling to find powders that work. This video was EXACTLY what I need! Thanks and God bless you. 💕

Hi Mandy! I am new to your channel and you have SO helped me step up my makeup game so thank you for that! You have a great collection of powders/foundations and seem to rotate throughout your selection. I am someone who tends to reach for the same products everyday (not necessarily a good thing), so I am wondering what makes you decide to wear something different? Is it the combo of foundation/powder or condition of your skin that day? Would love to hear about your daily makeup decision making process in a future video. Thank you for all the tips!

Sometimes it is what my skin is doing at the moment, or whether I like a powder with a certain foundation or a foundation with a certain primer that helps me decide. But in all honesty, I am such a list person that alot of times, I will make a list at the beginning of the week and try to stick to it; rotating the base products dependent on the list. Sometimes I end up loving a combo so much, that I stick with it for a couple of weeks but typically I do like to make a list. I also always set out my makeup the night before; that way I don't waste time the next morning deciding on what I will wear that day. :)

I never tried the La Mer original, I can’t wait to try the inexpensive dupe for it! Awesome find 🙌🏼 The La Mer translucent pressed is probably the least powdery powder I own, but I still prefer Chanel and Hourglass loose powder. After I set with setting spray it melts 😁 😘💕xoxo

Girl, you have gotta try Beauty Pie's One Powder Wonder. I was never able to use powder until I started using that. It is so smooth, I actually thought it was plastic in the pan, not powder when I first opened it. I even dug my fingernail into it thinking there was a plastic sheet over top of it. It blurs and perfects. The Beauty Know It All here on KZfaq has videos about it. I tried to go without Beauty Pie (it's a monthly charge of $10 to order from them because they are so cheap) but I couldn't last longer than 3 months. Their lip products are amazing and their powder products are beautiful. They have a great cleansing balm that I love too. The skincare is hit or miss for anyone that really looks at ingredients, but the lip and powder products...they are amazing.

Thanks so much!!! I just ordered the Flower powder on Ulta... I was planning on getting the Hourglass Veil powder MINI for $20 (because I use so little with dry skin) ... but even with shipping the Flower was cheaper!! I've had the Laura Mercier powder for about 3 years and the packaging broke to where I can't screw the cap back on, plus it's time to throw it away, AND it looked cakey (I bought into the hype long time ago) I have been using the RCMA powder, but it's just OK for DRY skin.

Yeah the Laura Mercier can definitely get cakey quick. I like it for my oily skin girls, but dry skin I don't typically use it. I hope you love the Flower powder as much as I do!

Mandy Davis MUA Having now used them for a few days, I’m finding the Crystal Rays to be a tiny bit on the STROBE light side, haha. OH OH OH, I wanted to tell you; I’m sure you have this powder, but, I just got the brand 100% Pure Bamboo Blurring Powder, their Setting Powder. It is SOOOO silky, I can’t even believe how soft it is. Have you tried that one? I think it’s $42. The BB Cream, same line, claims to offer medium to full coverage, but LIES. I always think everything has TOO much coverage, but this is truly like a tinted moisturizer. So. Freaking. Dewy. I actually kind of love it. I’ve been mixing a little with the Hourglass Illusion Skin Tint, and oh it’s just perfect for the warmer weather. Anyway, wanted to see if you’ve tried that Bamboo powder. If not, it’s right up your alley. You should give it a go 🙏🏻🙏🏻

My favorite powder hands down is Hourglass but too bad I didn’t see this video last week lol I would have ordered the Flower Beauty powder and saved myself a good bit of money! I’m having to be really picky regarding powder or I end up looking old, crepey, and dry dry dry, it’s such a struggle finding something that works now that my old favorites (such as Coty Airspun) no longer works on my skin. This was a very informative video and I thank you!

Just wanted to add that I pack on a lot (doesn’t look caky) on top of IT CC cream and even 12 hours the blush and the rest of the makeup is still there (and I’m slightly oily). Amazing!! Finally able to use something other than Double Wear for those long days at school.

Yes! I do like the lawless powder but I do find I have to spray it really well to get it to not look powdery on the face. Once I do that though, its gorgeous!

My fav is MAC Blotting Powder. Hands down sets my makeup with large brush pressing it in my skin. Never lookalike powder.

I totally agree about that Charlotte Tilbury powder! It's soooo worth it! But for anyone who's super sensitive to smell.. just keep in mind that it does not last. No matter how bad you find the smell to be, it dissipates really quickly. (The closest smell I can think to compare it to is crayons)

Hi there! The dew skin I use as a primer...the circle delete is actually a corrector for under the eyes...and the tint skin is my foundation. 😊 I actually did this look in a tutorial on my other channel if you want to see how I apply them. 😘

My favourite is the Hourglass mineral veil powder for setting and Hourglass Dim Light for finishing. I would like to try the Charlotte Tilbury magic powder next to compare. 😊 Love your eyeshadow colour. 😍

No not at all. If you are not a fan of powders, you don't have to use either. It's all personal preference. :)

PS... curious.. **do you like the Hourglass Mineral Veil powder??** (for dry/aging skin in general) What are your thoughts on it? Would love to know!!

I don't dislike that one but I find I like these better for some reason. For some reason I feel like the Hourglass makes me look too shiny as the day goes on. I need to use it more though...I know a ton of people swear by it.

Mandy Davis MUA absolutely agree! It doesn’t work as a setting powder for me and I don’t notice any blurring effect that other people talk about. Little does not go a long way and it makes my concealers caky.

Finishing powder, no doubt the Hourglass Ambient. It depends on when you ask me about setting powder, but for me right now, I think I would pick the Flower. :)

I use a duo fibre brush and buff it all over my face when I am done with all of my makeup. If you find any of my videos where I am applying makeup, you will see that step. :)

It is the darkest one, but I don't find it darkens my makeup. You can see my apply it in any of my tutorials and see it doesn't make a difference. :)

I like the MAC Blotting Powder. They come in many shades. Use a large brush and press it in your skin. I haven't it tried it under eyes, but ever where else, is perfect. You can't tell you have powder on.

Out of the ones I talked about here, I would go with the dark shade of the Charlotte Tilbury. :) Someone told me that she took the smell out because everyone was complaining so that is a plus! xoxo

Pur stick foundation is literally the WORST product I’ve ever tried in my entire life. It was that bad. I’d rather use a dollar store product. I got one of their eye pallets in a beauty box today, retail $36 I think, same kid makeup terrible quality. Pressed glitter, just AWFUL. I wouldn’t spend 25¢ on a PUR product at this point. Was that too harsh? I guess you know how I feel haha. The Cover FX Power Play is my HOLY GRAIL concealer. I. Love. It. And I have 20 plus in my drawer. That is the one I reach for. The applicator is a bit of a mess, but it’s worth it. Small amount goes a LONG way, and I get one shade lighter than usual, just brightens you beautifully without looking heavy. Just be sure to use half or less what you’d expect to need, and build from there. That’s my unsolicited advice, haha. Sorry for jumping in 😊

Hey, Darlin’ Girl. I turned 70 the first week of this month! Don’t know how that happened it really sneaks up on you! Haha! You know I love that dewey look. That being said, do you think I’ve reached the age where the Hourglass Luminous Light Finishing Powder is something I shouldn’t use anymore or any powder for that matter?? I do use a Setting Spray. In fact, Cover FX has a Dewey Finish one I have been wanting to try. What do you think of it, if you have used it?? I don’t know if all powders will just accentuate all my lines and wrinkles even more!! That Flower Beauty sounds like a real find!! Hope all is well with y’all. Love & Hugs, Mary 😍🤗 P.S. Happy late birthday Mary!! So, I don't think you need to stop using powders, unless you just don't feel like they do anything for the longevity of your foundation. If your foundation stays on, doesn't transfer or settle, I say skip the powder. BUT, no I don't think you are goo old for the Hourglass. I use that on all my mature clients and can't rave enough about it. It really is just the perfect veil of filter across the face. Tell Sloane hi!

I love the Huda powder... but that smell. No thanks!!!! Sucks because it smooths the skin & looks soo good but the smell chokes me out

It looks so amazing on everyone I have seen use it, but knowing the strong fragrance I haven't given it a try. Not sure why a powder needs a smell like that. :(
