Salman Rushdie's novel Midnight's Children won the Booker Prize in 1981 and the "Booker of Bookers" twice since, but is it the best novel to have won the Booker Prize?

On that note you can read 'Train to Pakistan' by Khushwant Singh. Its about the situation of the normal people when the partition happened written in a fictional way

Just finished this! Enjoyed it, but I'm glad I wasn't the only one that "soldiered on" through the book! Thanks for all your reviews - when I finish a book, I always check if you've done a vid on it!

I agree with a lot of what you say....although I really enjoy Indian/Pakistani writers. I read this a couple of years ago as my March of the Mammoths and while you reminded me of some of the parts of the book I forgot, I think it would be a hard read for someone with bare knowledge of India's history. At times, I thought Rushdie was trying to be too convulated/witty/clever by one and to no one's benefit and it seemed a work of conceit. ...or a poor man's Marguez. It's definitely worth the read and many will enjoy it .Love the new intros and video clips.

Thank you, Sandra. I think that we are on the same page about Midnight's Children. "A poor man's Márquez" sounds right to me.
