Eddy merckx phénoménal champion 525 jamai égalé et ne le sera jamai . Le roi eddy n'a pas d équivalent dans toutes disciplines sportives . De plus le roi eddy est toujours parmi nous et en bonne sante . De plus il peu constaté qu il est toujours le plus grand Eddy éternel et intemporel et universel . Bravo monsieur eddy merckx pour m avoir fait rêvé . J avai 9 ans quand vous avez gagné votre premier tour de france . Jai 61 ans et vous etes toujours mon idole . Que dieu vous protège monsieur eddy merckx .

Thats why I love cycling in the past. No state-of-the-art cycling products, no fancy equips, no drug-cheats. The basics of sportsmanship and spectators' cheering were the only element which makes the old school cycling gold...

The bike and equipment were state of the art at the time. Cyclist cheated back then. They took amphetamines and pain maskers like Halloween candy. Sportsmanship? You have some really good rose colored glasses. You might do some homework.

Simple. Real. Not plastic. No ridiculous gadgets. Straight up across-the-board........ Many all-arounders who could do it all, not event specialists as is the sad case today. No pathetic (worthless) spinning. No disgusting, filthy beards and long hair, as well, black socks and colored shoes, computers. It was classy. All of this is gone today.

i am well aware of this ,however, it was widley believed that merckx was set up, and considering drug abuse was de rigour at the time,this had never changed my opinion of his achievements.

Rh Last Nae Of course he took drugs, amphétamine like all the riders but he was stronger than everyboby and he is the best ever. Armstrong never proved he could climb when he was young, Eddy yes !!!! Armstrong took much more drugs than other riders, Eddy took the same things as Gimondi, Coppi, Anquetil etc... He is the best sportsman ever

If a cyclist wins between 100 and 200 races in his professional career they belong to the absolute top in cycling. Merckx had 525 victories.

If you speak Dutch there is this clip that adds so much to this video.. 4:45 "Daar zijn ze! Merckx en Verbeek, al 75 kilometer samen, voorop. Frans Verbeek sterft hier wel tien keer, maar, houdt stand! Roger de Vlaeminck leidt het peleton van de verliezers, die doorkomen op drie en een halve minuut." A bit hard to translate properly.. it's narrated beautifully in Dutch, but I'll attempt at the risk of losing the beautiful wording. "There they are! Merckx and Verbeek, already for 75 kilometers, together in the front... Frans Verbeek must be dying 10 times over here, but, he endures! Roger de Vlaeminck leads the peleton of losers, who clock in at three and a half minutes."

#1 in palmares , the one who has major number of vics, the greatest of all times is Coppi . Merckx would have beaten the piedmontese in any sprint final, but x all the rest Coppi was just of another class, the emblem of bicycle raider.
