There is another special forces unit that lasts four years and it was mentioned in a previous live that Jungkook wanted to join that. If that’s the case, for obvious reasons he wouldn’t joint due to the period of time that would have to be spent in that unit. He could have been expressing disappointment about that. I don’t know exactly what live he said that in so I’d have to do some digging in order to find it for you. But regardless, he signed up for the buddy system along time ago because the application for that takes time. Months and months. As far as Korea being a homophobic country and the potential for prison time. Yes, that’s true, but other soldiers have explicitly said for gay couples who are thinking about enlisting together to use the buddy system, and specifically go to the fifth division. If a gay couple were to go into the military, they aren’t going to announce it on their application forms or to their superiors. From what I’ve read about it it’s kind of a “don’t ask don’t tell“ system and as long as people aren’t actively engaging in homosexual acts there wouldn’t be a problem. So then joining together isn’t the “blow to Jikookers” like you believe it is.
