RIP Rod Roddy too. Elizabeth Banks from what I've seen is doing a decent job, did her homework and while she obviously inspired by Peter Tomarken she knows she can never replace him and doesn't try. opting to make her role as host her own. Drew Carey for example, would be the first to tell you he's not Bob Barker and doesn't try to be, opting to host TPIR his way and make the show his own, just as Bob Barker himself did when he took over TPIR from the late Bill Cullen. Ken Jennings and Mayim Bialik are doing the same for Jeopardy! Both would tell you they aren't Alex Trebek, never could be and don't try to be. They host in their own respective ways.

Do you know what's weird about the dancing Whammy at around 8:50? Nancy was actually dancing with him. She didn't really care about the fact that she was losing money again for the second time in the game.

I didn't know that if all 3 players had $0, they all came back on the next show. On Jeopardy, if everyone has $0, they all leave, and they can't come back.

Without that rule, there would be no incentive to whammy the last player. It's a good rule in this game.

Of course in that KZfaq link in the comments, Robert's $30,518 was NOT the most money lost to a whammy. That infamous honor goes to Cathy during the most heated one-spin battle back and forth between Cathy/Lori. Lori would eventually win the game, but Cathy lost $31,408! That's $890 more than Robert's total. The only difference is that Robert's spin decided the game, it was the last spin of the game. Cathy's spin was in the middle of the second round, because the third contestant was watching the spectacle since he won the most in the first round and had spins in the earned and passed columns. Just before Cathy hit that whammy, the total combined between those two contestants totaled just over $50,000! Before Kate hit the whammy that breakdanced away with her $19,050 she and Robert had a combined $49,568 plus the third contestants $6860 equaled $56,428. Kate played it perfectly, barely was in second place and she wins by $140.

Actually, according to Todd Hunter, Trish (from #573-#575, who later returned in June 1986 due to a technical problem) claimed to have lost $35,000 (the largest Whammy loss in the original version) to the Photographer Whammy after she hit Double Your Money and a Spin.

The whammies are funnier on the original press your luck over the Elizabeth banks version

About 95% of the original show is better than the new ABC version. The original Big Board is still far superior and way better looking than the cheap CGI design of the new one. The only thing from the new show that I personally would like to have seen is Peter Tomarken with a background like the one Banks has. Or something a bit more similar to the original.

Give PAUL a GOLDEN SOMBRERO for getting 4 WHAMMIES in a row!! LISA lost the game by choosing the $2250 instead of the WATER BIKE. The WATER BIKE would’ve won her the game. NANCY is the 4th player to get all 12 spins going into the last round and LOST the game!!
