In this USA Travel Vlog we start our mini roadtrip from my parents house to Watkins Glen State Park in New York, then Niagara Falls New York, back down to Pittsburgh, then return to my parents house. Even though it was only 3.5 hours from my parent's house to Watkins Glen State Park, I'd never been before! We booked a campsite at Watkins Glen online, packed a tent and camping gear in our car, and went. When we arrived it was so easy to check in! They already had all of our info online so we just picked up a tag for our car and bought some firewood from the park office. We then drove down to the south entrance to start hiking the famous Gorge Trail of Watkins Glen State Park. The gorge trail is famous for its gorgeous views because you can hike along a path right next to the gorge past 19 waterfalls. There is another entrance at the other side, however you get much better views by starting at the south entrance because you can see everything as you hike along the trail! You even get to hike behind some of the waterfalls which is so much fun!! A little over halfway, you'll arrive at the Rainbow Waterfall which is the famous picture spot of Watkins Glen. It was the busiest place we saw because everyone wanted a picture there! We continued to hike the whole way to the end, up the 180 stairs of Jacob's Ladder, to the Upper Entrance. We stopped at the upper entrance to eat some Sheetz sandwiches that we brought with us. After resting at the top it was time to hike back to the South Entrance. We decided to take the Indian Trail back instead of the Gorge Trail, but honestly it wasn't worth it. The Gorge Trail is the way to go at Watkins Glen!!! We thought the Indian Trail might have nice views as it was higher, but we couldn't see anything because of the trees. We finished the Indian Trail and crossed the huge suspension bridge back to the car. Then we finally drove to our campsite. We chose an amazing location as it was right across from the bathrooms! Luckily there are very nice bathrooms at Watkins Glen with clean, not freezing showers. We unpacked our camping supplies and set up our tent, then drove into Watkins Glen town to head to Walmart for dinner supplies. It was Carles's first time at Walmart which was also an experience! We bought hotdogs and things to cook over the campfire then stopped by the huge Seneca Lake on the way back to the state park. Seneca Lake is the biggest of the New York Finger Lakes. It was such a nice lake full of boats and people relaxing! There are even around 50 wineries around the lake that are popular to do winery hopping tours at! Unfortunately we didn't go to any wineries as we wanted to make a fire. We started the campfire, cooked our hotdogs, and had a great night camping at Watkins Glen! The next morning we packed up and continued on our roadtrip to Niagara Falls!
