Just an incredible village. ✨️ Not sure if it was this one or another similar. But the village was just about abandoned and in ruins. A gentleman bought one house renovated it and convinced some friends to do the same. Then more and more moved back to the village. I just found your channel. Thank you for sharing this village tour. Well done. 👍💪 A perfect channel to binge watch in the evenings.😊 30:28 I didn't know about River beaches before but a great idea. 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️🏖🏞👍

Thank you very much for your words. Yes, I've heard about this abandoned village where someone went to live there and called friends. There are countless places like this in Portugal, as younger people have moved to the cities and older people have passed away. I think it's a gift for people to buy these houses and bring these villages back to life. River beaches are a wonderful and very cool space full of greenery around and fresh running water. I confess that I have always been a fan of sea beaches, until this summer, as now I have discovered wonderful experiences in fresh water. It fills my heart to know that my videos are perfect for watching at night. It means a lot to me and I feel like I'm doing a good job. Thank you very much and I hope to see you soon in Portugal.

Hi , 👋it is very beautiful and a rare type of city just gorgeous but I don't know if it a place to retire ? Retirees need doctors hospital you know so it's not a place for people that are 60 + to live I think it's great but not enough amenities I'm sure How far is hospital?

With all those stairs for exercise and fresh mountain air perhaps the retirees could get healthier and fitter therefore not needing to rely on medication and hospitals. 🤷‍♀️

@kathifailor4660 Hello. First of all, thank you very much for your comment, which I think is very relevant, and I'm glad you raised this question. It is true that the beauty of the location also makes it a somewhat isolated place. In this case, regardless of age, a person with reduced mobility may be an obstacle to living in a more isolated village. But if you are a retiree who still has good mobility, it is still a place where you can gain health and quality of life. In this case, we will have to adapt the geographical reality to the reality of the conditions offered by the Portuguese National Health System. Here is a brief list of the main hospitals surrounding Piódao. - Hospital da Fundação Aurélio Amaro Diniz (FAAD) (North) - 33,5 km ( 20 miles) / 55 minuts by car; - Hospital de Seia (North) - 40 km ( 24 miles) / 1 :03 minuts by car; - Hospital Misericórdia Tábua - (West) - 42,2 km / 57 minuts by car. - Unidade de Cuidados Continuados Integrados do Hospital Dr. Fernando Valle - (West) - 37,3 km (23 miles) / 56 minuts by car. In addition to hospitals, there are also health centers, which are even closer to citizens. Although there are private hospitals, in Portugal there is the National Health System that provides free healthcare for all citizens. This fact means that the national healthcare network is as close as possible to everyone. Of course, it is impossible for everyone to have a hospital on their doorstep, but at least we try to ensure that these resources are nearby. Without a doubt, it is a wonderful, calm place, where you can spend days of rest and leisure, but however, I would perhaps not recommend it to people with a very reduced level of mobility. And if you choose to live there, I also recommend that as mobility decreases, look for another option that is also calm but closer to other communities with other health resources nearby. Hope this helps, and thanks a lot for your contribution. José

@veritasliberabitvos9072 Yes I agree. If a person comes after a life of work, and seeks to rest and enjoy nature, they can gain a few extra years of life here. But if the person already has a lack of mobility, or serious health problems, then they should consider whether it is the right place. I think it's up to each person to see their health condition and adapt to the place. Thank you very much for the contribution. José

Is it true that the uk pension gets taxed 10%, anyone know..??
@riseagainportugal
@riseagainportugal 10 ай бұрын
Hello. An excellent question. Yes, Portugal has a very attractive tax regime, not just for retirees. It's called "Tax Benefit for non-habitual residents." Previously, pensioners were exempt from tax for several years, but this situation was eliminated with the State Budget for 2020, with 10% now in force, which is still beneficial. *And what are these benefits?* - Fixed rate of 20% for income from dependent work (category A) and independent work (category B) obtained in Portugal, derived from activities with high added value. - Income from dependent employment obtained outside Portugal is not subject to taxation in Portugal if it is taxed in the country of origin. - Income from self-employment, obtained outside Portugal, from an activity with high added value, is not subject to taxation in Portugal, as long as the income can be taxed in the country of origin under a tax agreement signed between Portugal and the respective country. - 0% tax on interest, dividends and royalties obtained outside Portugal, and if taxed in the countries of origin, the respective taxation must not exceed the reduced rates established in the tax agreements signed between Portugal and the respective countries that vary between 5% and 15%. 👉 *👉- Foreign pensions subject to a flat rate of 10%.* - The tax regime is granted for a period of 10 years with the possibility of suspension and resumption of the regime. *Other benefits* - In Portugal there is no tax on large fortunes, except the “Additional Municipal Property Tax” - AIMI - a tax between 0.4% and 0.7%, which is charged on the sum of real estate assets intended for housing or land for construction, owned by individuals or companies, with a value exceeding €600,000). - Donations and inheritances are completely exempt from taxation between ascendants, descendants and spouses. In relation to other beneficiaries, a 10% Stamp Tax rate applies. - The sale of foreign goods is not subject to Stamp Tax. - Exemption from taxation of capital gains arising from the sale of one's own permanent residence as long as the proceeds are reinvested in another own permanent residence in Portugal, the European Union or the European Economic Area. - Tax exemption on income or gains derived from cryptocurrencies. - Exemption from taxation of capital gains on the sale of valuable second-hand goods: art, cars and other collectors' goods. *Who can apply?* - Individuals, foreign or Portuguese, who have not been tax residents in Portugal for the last 5 years. - Individuals who are considered tax residents in Portugal in the year in which they intend to apply for RNH status. *For tax purposes, the following are considered residents in Portuguese territory:* - the individual who has stayed in Portuguese territory for more than 183 days, or; - having stayed less time, has in Portuguese territory, on December 31st of that year, a dwelling in conditions that suggest the intention to maintain and occupy it as a habitual residence. I hope it helps. You just need to check if its better for you this regime, comparing to your taxation system on your country. Im sure it is. :) Compliments. José
