Summer 1962 we were heading to Seattle and passing through SD. Sign after sign told us about Wall Drug. After the first 30 or so signs, my parents said there is no way we are stopping. After another 150 or so signs we stopped. I still remember that as a seven year-old kid.

I’ve lived in California my entire life, and I’ve driven up highway 1 a few times, I’ve never been to Sequoia or Yosemite. I know! I’ve driven up/down highway 1 a few times and never stopped in the various places everyone should stop. Our trips have been to Cambria on our way to Paseo Robles for wine guzzling, or to go to/from San Francisco or Oregon. I retired fairly young 8 years ago, and my wife has finally agreed to retire in two weeks. We’re thinking about buying an RV to travel the country part time, so hopefully we’ll finally see our backyard. I had a Class A for several years, but only camped locally. How stupid is that? My wife doesn’t enjoy traveling as much as I do as I’ll stop at every historical site along our route which drives her nuts. I guess seeing every stagecoach route and waypoint isn’t exactly exciting to her. Hopefully in retirement we’ll finally see not only our state, but the entire nation, as much as possible anyway. I’d love to travel full time, but my wife thinks she needs to stay near the kids and grandkids even though we only see them a half dozen times a year. That’s what FaceTime is for!

We lived in Alberta Canada and one year decided to head for Highway 1 in Oregon and follow it south down to California and the Red Woods. Fat chance! We got as the Oregon coast and it's State camps and began to relax and slow down, coming to a dead stop about 2/3 of the way down in Oregon. The scenery, weather, food and campgrounds were just so good we left California and the Redwoods for another trip. Well done Oregon!

We did the Black Hills and Yellowstone in the summer of 22. We did the nomad view at Badlands also! We’re doing our bucket list trip Florida to Alaska and back this summer. We’ve also done the Mighty 5 and did the PCH Hwy from L.A. to Seattle. Being native Floridians we do the Florida Keys every summer for fishing and lobsters. Y’all need to come back to Florida in July for Scalloping on the Gulf Coast!

Thanks... Did #1 our first year (stayed some at Nomad View). Perfect start. #2 is next year. #3 was our second year, awsome. #4 we have done the southern half and are returning for the northern as well as Oregon and Washington coasts. #5 is this year, June through October. #6 we have done many times except for the Keys which we are just not lucky enough to get the reservations yet. All of these, completed and planned, we do in big loops to experience everything near and on the route. Have a great 2024...

Everyone raves about the Mighty Five in Utah. However, you're missing some of the most beautiful places in Utah if you just stick to those five places. You might want to try some of the sites in Eastern Utah such as the San Rafael Swell with the wedge (is Utah's version of the Grand Canyon), Nine Mile Canyon (the largest Indian art gallery in the US) and one of the best dinosaur museums in the world is located in Price, Utah. If you enjoyed Jurassic Park you will love the USU Prehistoric Museum and it's Utah Raptor and many other dinosaurs found right here in Utah. Along with a Mammoth last was excavated about 20 years ago. Give more of Utah a try!!! There's also Goblin Valley and Little Wild Horse Canyon both with some fabulous hikes.

Thankfully that was not our experience. We thought it was beautiful.

What do you call a "Large RV". 35 Feet and longer?

With most of the parks we were referring to anything over 30ft might give you issues.

The Air Force took me to South Dakota and the only part that was discomforting was the winter… Box Elder Cold. My job made Wall Drugs a heavenly place. Let’s just say that new museum- site out there is very very familiar to me

"Does he think he's camping in a van"? How much better do you think you are to make that statement? Sorry that come across to me like you are better than the man in the van. I'm not hating and have followed you guys for years but that was very rude.

Respectfully, we think you are missing the point. We certainly don't feel like we are better than any other RVers. We have loved camping in vans. After we had driven for hours and not able to find a parking spot in rest areas we were commenting that he was taking up a parking spot set aside for large RVs but was in a vehicle that easily fit in a regular parking spot. Have a great day.
