Today we are diving into some of the top teams used to Hit Legend this Season in Pokemon GO Battle League! There's been a meta shift as players climb to Legend, gone are the days of Medicham and Serperior. Some of the top teams are leaning into Pokemon like Shadow Dragonair and Poliwrath in Great League!

This is my second season playing. I just hit ace rank and went 12-3 in 3 sets using Altaria, lanturn and charizard. I was met with a lot of electric leads and it was tricky maneuvering through them . Wouldn’t say this team works for the higher ranked players but it was a fun one to ride with.

@@VinceHHT they actually had them in the back versus my team. And I did well against those teams what I did was waste two of my shields to soften the basti up with my altaria and already had a double surf lined up on my lanturn so when I drew out the basti with my charizard I was able to take it out with that strategy.

I definitely like the Dewgong ABA Team! As ABA has become my more preferred playstyle, given the RPS issues I have with ABB, but I'm willing to give some of the ABB teams a try as well. I hope to see more ABA teams at some point.

Last team if you ran clod, licki and azu, surely that bulk is going to go places. Might give that a go.

I tried the Doonebug97 team and just got owned by Azu 1-4 set, but I made a few mistakes. Even ran into a Dunsparce lead

I wonder how could the first legend team work (Charjabug + Spark Lanturn + Talonflame) in a meta full of mudboys

X scissor surf spam until the shield and then unleash talonflame and pray there's no bastiodon closer

Spark Lanturn + Dewgong + Clodsire works well for me. As in usually winning atleast 4 battles if not 5. Sometimes I switch Clodsire for G. Stunfisk but I found that boi is not as bulky as Clodsire.

Seems like the meta teams are mostly similar, will experiment with some of these! Currently running Buzzwole, Stunfisk and Toxapex for fun haha

I’m using a “Poliwrath/Umbreon/Vigiroth” team and winning every 4 out of 5. I’ve still got a lot to learn but right now I’m happy with my team 😅

In the history of GO Battle League, there's only been three, maybe four occasions where I felt a Pokemon was *too* strong: Pre-Poison Fang nerf Nidoqueen, 100% debuffing Zap Cannon Registeel and now Icy Wind Poliwrath. You could make an argument for Breaking Swipe Steelix as well. In my opinion, and my opinion only, I felt like all of those were either too strong, too flexible or too easy to play, and so far all were nerfed in some way. I think Poliwrath is next. I just hope it doesn't ruin Icy Wind for all of it's users like they did with Steelix and Breaking Swipe.

Unfort I feel like the only way for them to nerf Wrath would be changing Icy Wind as shitty as that is. They COULD revert the Scald buff or at least tone it down a bit (which I would argue is the safer more sensical option) but I kinda don't see them reneging on something like that so soon. The fact they are giving out Icy Wind now like candy makes me think that an Icy Wind nerf might be something they are considering if they want to continue to make it accessible to more Pokemon without breaking the meta. That's pretty much exactly what happened to Breaking Swipe; giving it to a lot more Pokemon then immediately nerfing it because Steelix was too good with it. I can totally see that being a thing with Wrath now.

I’ve had some luck with a Grasshole team of Basti lead, Meganium safe switch and Serperior. I’ve beat several skele because they don’t realize the Meganium has access to earthquake

First set with that Dewgong, Gligar, Trev team I went 5-0. 2100 scrub ranks but still for the mind of a stoner that’s deec. Don’t have Shadow Gligar either, the normal version has always served me well. Although Talon is kind of a problem and I’m seeing Altaria and Noctowl at these ranks.

Try gligar trev and bastiodon closer if you have them issues. Dewgong doesn't have the fast move pressure and resistances to deal

All the teams I’m facing have a Medicham. Not sure why he is saying it isn’t used much. Friends of mine say they are also encountering it a lot.

Does anybody know why the battle freezes randomly for before I’m about to win a match? It always happens right after my opponent switches into their last Pokemon and right after they fire off a charge move that fails to do any real damage. Also the other times it happens is when I’m about to knockout my opponent’s last Pokemon and I fire off a charge move and they have no shields remaining? These are the 2 most frequent occurrences that I see it happen. lol it’s always a win when it happens but I’m just curious why it freezes for like 10 seconds when those 2 things happen.

The best players don't use these teams. The best players have fun in GBL running Pokémon they like, not meta mons forced onto them. They might not reach legend every season but they have fun, and the occasional times they do reach legend with a team they've made themself are far more rewarding 😊.

I wondered if someone can help. My talonflame is unable to learn fire spin as charged move. It gives me option on my other talonflame but the one I want to use for great league the move option is not there. Can anyone let me know why please

Fire Spin is a fast move, do you mean Incinerate? Flame Charge/Fly are typically the charge moves you want to run on Talonflame. You 100% want Incinerate as the fast move for it btw, otherwise it's significantly less good. Incinerate is unfortunately a legacy move though, so if you don't have it, you'll need to use an Elite Fast TM. If that's the move you're trying to get, that would explain why it's not working.
