BLUETTI EB3A portable solar generator battery review. The EB3A is a Power Lifting Champion that can run devices most other power stations this size can't. The Bluetti EB3A is a portable power station a 600w AC inverter and 268Wh LiFePO4 internal battery. The EB3A has 9 outputs, and can charge at a rate of up to 430W watts with the AC adapter in power turbo charging mode. Between the AC inverter and charging capability the Bluetti EB3A is a strong power station among the 268Wh range. These power stations are excellent for camping and off grid adventure with small devices.

I just bought one. They are great. Got a 3rd party 200W solar panel for it as they are more a commodity and the Bluetti one is a little rich price wise. They are supposed to be releasing a new cable that will allow you to link this (and other Bluetti units) w the 806W expandable battery B80. That would turn this into a 1000W+ unit.

Just finished driving from Florida to Nevada (via Mexico) with 12v fridge (and sometimes food warmer) plugged into EB3A which in turn was plugged into the car's 12v. Maintained fridge perfectly and stayed mostly at 100% until we stopped for the night. Never fell below 50%. Strong point of this unit is higher wattage inverter and flexible charging. We use our Ecoflow Delta 2 for higher wattage and watt hour demands.

I looked at this while on sale but it never made any sense to me. at only 268 watt hours having a 600 watt inverter is pretty pointless as you'll only get 25 minutes of run time at full power. its in the weird space of being too big or heavy to carry around for light stuff like hiking/foot travel and way too small for things like powering a single fridge, tv, pc, well pump, or electric starter for gas furnace or water heater for any reasonable length of time. Either go with a portable battery pack to charge your phone/camera or tablet, or go with a 1280Wh lifepo4 battery and a separate inverter to power a few key appliances during a blackout.

IE: a small lamp, a computer, a heating pad, electric skillet, etc? What appliances can this actually this be used for? I already have a small portable generator but have only tried it on one lamp with a led bulb. Of course my husband took it so he could read LOL. Do I need a different generator for each room/ person? I don't see the point of these small 260wh packs... I have a diy usbc charge pack that has 240wh.. I can't imagine using that as a solar generator 😂 I built my own solar generator for about $1000 and it has a 4800wh battery and a 2000w pure sine wave inverter. It's also water proof that is built in a milwaukee packout case. I built a additional 4500wh battery for it for about $550 more. So for about $1500 I have a 9300wh solar generator that can last for days without conserving battery power

One thing I would add about "turbocharging" mode is that it is a great feature when you really need a battery to charge up quickly, and used only occasionally, it won't hurt the battery life appreciably. However, faster charging does degrade the battery more over time, so for maximizing battery life people should charge as slowly as their circumstances allow. If one is going to let it charge overnight or for quite a few hours before you need it, charging it in the slowest mode (silent) is best as it will still charge in about 3 hours at that rate. If you need to charge from zero in an hour once in a while, sure, use the fast charging mode.

I used the fast changing outlet, on the plug-in wall charger, for my portable power banks & 2 (different brands & ages) no longer charge! So, it seems to me, fast/turbo charging greatly affects the life of portables & using it for a phone, tablet, laptop, etc., is a gamble with terrible consequences.

@@mspat8195 most likely they heated up just enough to let either the positive or negative wire to come off the batteries. @randybobandy9828
@randybobandy9828 Жыл бұрын
@mspat8195 no.. it wasn't the fast charging that ruined your device. Something else went wrong with it. The cells are rated for over 3000 charge cycles and that's just until the max capacity is reduced to 80%.. they can go for thousands of charges more than that. Your bms or outlet on the device must have failed or melted but it isn't the cells themselves.

Still a novelty to me. I haven't really found a use for mine. It would be great to use as a ups for my router and modem if it didn't switch from battery to AC power all the time and disconnect the router and get really warm. The best use for this would be something like a router running off of solar. You can maintain a constant 10 to 20 watt output and maintain that overnight and then catch enough of a charge off a 100 or 200 watt panel as soon as it got light to keep it going indefinitely. I'm going to try it while Moto camping but the 10 lb is kind of a deterrent.

Best single use I've found for mine so far is to run a 12v fridge in the car, for long road trips or for grocery shopping. Fridge runs off the car's 12v (through the unit) while the car is running, but then the unit picks up and powers the fridge with battery for the hours when the car is off. Runs the fridge non stop (plus small fan) all night/ during rests. Recharges quickly again when I run the car. Keeps 30 qt. fridge uninterrupted cold for days on end, full duration of road trip. (Option to switch to solar when the driving stops for a while.). Compact, no fuss, perfect for this.

@@bkanegsonthat sounds pretty good. What's the draw on the refrigerator?
@bkanegson
@bkanegson Жыл бұрын
@@PWoods-cd6tk Runs intermittently as per thermostat, like any fridge, about 55-60 watts DC, in fridge's selectable "eco mode", when it pulls. (More, 80-90 watts when using AC). Unit charges at well over 100w from the 12v port, as I recall. More than enough to recharge the unit quickly, even if the fridge is running.

Good review and interesting product. I recently bought two Ecoflow of different sizes for different uses due to ratings and recommendations, however when one does a comparison they are pretty close so I suppose price and features should be the decision maker. I will have to do some research to find out if the "power lifting" is different than the surge capacity of other brands as I may be getting an even larger one in the future.

They’re both decent brands and they have a similar feature like powerlifting. In the end if you get something that works for your needs then it’s a success.

I have a Jackery 240 and love it. I have been thinking about getting another Jackery but decided on the Bluetti EB3a instead. Walmart (yes, Walmart) has them NIB for $198 and when available Bluetti has them factory refurbed for $139! $139 for a certified factory refurbed unit is steal but they are not always available. Sorry, but I got first dibs!!

The Allpowers r300 does everything the eb3a can do and more. The Ctechi gt200 320wh is great alternative if you don't need an app or wireless charging. Both are cheaper and have larger battery capacities.

Not everyone uses it for phones and iPads lol. I use mine to power my CPAP…. just because I have SA shouldn’t mean I still can’t enjoy primitive camping… I was limited to campgrounds with access to electric in order for me to go camping… Now I can go where ever I want….. I also use it to power Led lights so I can read a book or work a crossword puzzle in the evening… So not all who camp use it for devices..

That looks awesome, but I wish the battery was a bigger capacity for emergencies, that would only run my 40w fan for 6 hours, not even a full night. Still good for camping and such though probably.

@@marvinmurakami8828 Thats actually amazing, I like the upgradeability. Just checked prices though, the solar panels are almost tripple the cost, but then again, portable solar panels usually are. Update: I modified my post after further research! I just realized the batteries are LiFePO4, the cost of the batteries are actually not bad at all. Solar panels are overpriced, but they are similar to the costs of other portable solar panels.

Based on this review, Id say a person should keep looking. Why pay for features a person cant or shouldnt use because doing so may harm the device or what you are powering? This means the average buyer would be paying for unused features as some people noted in the comments. Also, does this require the use of a smartphone or are all features accessible in the device itself? Also, can firmware be updated without a smartphone?

@@cvcoco you asked some valid questions and we are all trying to find the best for our buck. I would say, you should only pay for what you need it for, I have seen some power boxes for 30 bucks! I would think the main functions are available on the device itself but more options with the Bluetooth app or remote like most other regular devices here in America. I think the main drawback on this device is the popular consensus that it needs to draw at least 10 amps of solar to charge, whereas others, like jackery boxes, charge when solar is detected.
