Today we're going to discuss all the stratagems that you can use in a game of Warhammer 40k 10th edition when you are playing as the Sons of Sanguinius detachment. I'm also going to be breaking down my stratagem usage in a typical game to hopefully share some wisdom and insight!

A fun use for Aggressive Onslaught I have found to be the Death Company Dread. Bring in from strat reserves, charge, kill a vehicle. Then pop Aggressive Onslaught and chain into another vehicle or unit. If you happen then kill that unit with the Dreads reactivation, the stratagem is still in effect and you can consolidate again 6 inches and potentially chain quite a few kills.

the question is if the reactivation really happens in Melee because the Core Rules say that his is not possible **No unit can fight more than once in the Fight phase** Page 32, i dont know if there is a rule clarification concerning the Death Company Dread

ah i found the answer in the rules commentary -> Charge Bonus: Bestowed on a unit that makes a Charge move, so that, until the end of the turn, that unit has the Fights First ability. Note that other rules and abilities that trigger when a unit makes a Charge move or in the turn that a unit has charged are not part of the Charge bonus.

10 assault intercessors with a captain are the same points as a land raider and will take one down in a charge with red rampage

The fight on death strategy is so good when yeeting Centurions with Libby dread. I use 6 and it forces opponent to commit wayy too much shooting to potentially kill the unit, or they charge them and get smoked when they fight on death. I basically use them as a distraction carnifex that gets to fight on death, which really throws opponents for a loop turn 1 and 2

@@BloodBuffalo I would prefer a captain. The judiciar's fight first is negated by the charge already giving that to you, and the lethal hits make him less able to exploit the dev wounds he has. A captain's only costs 10 points more, gives you the strat for free, and has more attacks to get lethal hits with. Of course, A judiciar still has value for safely walking up the board, so it's a perfectly valid leader for them. Just not optimal as a target for the strat.

@@takoaful the fight first has helped me often against when counter charged after the kill. I have a captain with another unit. Can't afford captains with everything.

Unless I'm misunderstanding something here, Epic Challenge doesn't need to target a named character. So you could use it on a Bladeguard Captain popping Finest Hour or a Slam Captain, throw in a free Red Rampage and you should be able to easily kill most attachable characters in the game.

Heroic Intervention deserves a better rating since it's power comes from just existing. It's threat holds people back without having to pay anything. That's a huge win.

can someone explain why blood angels get the +2s and +1A from Heroic Intervention, i thaught that this counts a a charge bonus?

@felixmichael2904 the "charge bonus" is a term that exclusively refers to the fights first ability granted by completing a charge. Abilities that are activated by successfully completing a charge are different, and are still granted when completing a heroic intervention, because you have successfully completed a charge.

I use grenades everygame. Intercessors with sticky objectives and hucking a grenade is underrated. And i rapid ingress a 10 man terminator brick with a captain to good success.

Overwatch is a gamble, I used it with a squad of suppressors on a witch seeker squad moving to score. Wiped the remaining 2 in the squad however it's completely failed at times as well.

I like the idea of Epic Challenge on Sanguinor to gut the Dmg output of some units that rely on an attached character

Note that Lance gives +1 to wound only after charge

Assault intercessors with chainswords abs a captain are str 7 on the charge. With Lance you're wounding land raiders in a 4+ on the charge. On average a 10 man assault intercessors with captain kill a land raider on a charge

I’ve been thinking for SOS of running Tycho, assault intercessors and a sang priest to see how that works works be interesting to see how it would work maybe even combo with a lib dread Also Epic challenge is really good on the Sanguinor & Captain with Blade guard with the devs wounds

Ive been loving the sons of sanguinius detachment. Its much better since we got the additional +1str on the charge. I know im not a top meta player. I do help others with their strategy, and some who have played much longer than myself. That said, its kinda rare that i claim victory against one friend in particular. The guy who taught me how to play, we will just call him E. However, we've only had a chance to play once since the update. Now, i have tabled him before (in 5th edition), but i havent even beat him recently. (Ok, as 6th was being released i went through a divorce, so i didnt play in 6, 7, or 8th. I started playing again January of last year, as i got models for christmas, yes i got good fast, because i play almost everyday, and i talk strategy with my friends non-stop).

Hear me out, 10 assault intercessors. Str 7 on the charge with an assault captain. That's wounding land raider in 5+ Red rampage and you're wounding land raiders on a 4+ on the charge. Enough attacks you'll take it out

If you use Only In Death Does Duty End on a Death Company Dreadnought, and it dies from the attack, would you be allowed to use Frenzied Reprisal as well as fight in your phase? From my simple reading I would say yes.

Let me give you an example. Your opponent has 3 units (Legionaries, Chosen+Lord, and an Helbrute) that are all relatively close together. And he Charges all 3 into your DCD. You spend Only in Dead does duty end. He attacks with his Helbrute (and Doesn't kill you). You get to attack back with DCD ability(against any unit because the ability doesn't say against only the attacking unit, because it is an out of phase ability). He goes to his next charged unit the Chosen+Lord. And they are able to kill your DCD. The Stratagem ability now kicks in because "technically" the DCD has not yet fought. So the TLDR is Yes. But only because the DCD ability is an "Out of Phase" ability that doesn't count against you. But once that fight happens you then remove the DCD.

Interesting hypothetical. Let’s play with it a bit. - The Legionaries attacks but don’t kill. DCD gets to Frenzied Reprisal - The Chosen+Lord attacks and kills. DCD gets to Frenzied Reprisal since it has not fought in the fight phase. The DCD is not removed from play. - The Helbrute must attack as the DCD remains an “eligible unit”. DCD gets to Frenzied Reprisal since it still has not fought in the fight phase. - The DCD finally gets to fight in the fight phase and then it is removed from play. @@danielpaoli1093

Wait. You can use red rampage two times per turn ? I understood the CP part But i thought you can use one strat per turn?

@Michaelkayslay yeah, the Captains ability Rights of Battle states the unit can use a stratagem for zero cp even if it has already been used.

"Overwatch is a trap." This is one of your takes that I think is the most I've disagreed with since the start of the edition. Just a terrible way to frame how to think of the strat. Common sense tells you when its good to use and when not to and it's really that simple. If you frame it as a trap you scare players off utilizing it in situations where it's actually very very good.

I've been pretty happy with Captain with bladeguard out of a landraider. the free red rampage frees up my CP, and when the unit is at low strength, Finest hour has come in clutch. also frees up a red rampage for elsewhere in the same turn like Lemartes and friends.
