Where did you find the Tomei catback or where is the cheapest place to buy new? Also how much does the overpipe change sound wise?
@SSJDanny Жыл бұрын
Not too sure if the overpipe made a difference tbh. But since I was already down there changing the front pipe just decided to change it. Traded some coilovers for the tomei lol Brand new is gonna be at least 1.1k minimum

Do you think running 60r instead of 80 with the same set up would be a big difference ? All tomei 80 is pretty much out of stock and 60r is the only available where I live right now
@SSJDanny2 жыл бұрын
Yes biiig difference. Like I mentioned in the vid the 3 inch diameter makes a really big difference. The 60r would probably sound raspy and high pitched
@burakoshimazaki Жыл бұрын
The R series are designed for track racing performance and not necessarily for sound. If you are NA and insist on a Tomei exhaust I would suggest the Tomei Type 60s. It's tuned with NA performance and sound in mind to make it more comfortable and enjoyable for everyday use. If you use a type 80 while NA not only will you lose torque in the lower RPMs but it will be obnoxiously loud, more so if you are using an exhaust with one or no catalyzers. Other recommendations are Fujitsubo Authorize, Greddy Comfort Sports, Counterspace Garage's Touring, or HKS.

I do hope someone sees this cause I'm also in the same limbo if that makes sense. I don't want a Tomei exhaust just because I don't want it to be super loud, but I do want the pops and bangs (but not this aggressive if that makes sense?) I'm looking into getting the Borla headers with the MAPerformace duel catback 4" stainless exhaust. Does this sound like a good setup to run?
@SSJDanny5 ай бұрын
Touch choice. A catback paired with any Header is going to be loud, just be careful which catback you choose because some will make your car sound raspy instead of deep 😬
@brycel34615 ай бұрын
True true. I watched many videos on different cat backs and for me, the MAPerformance duel cat back sounded the most tame but still had that deep boxer rumble. I don't want it to be SUPER loud like its straight piped. The video I watched is on the MAPerformace yt if you can find it. A guy reviews like 5-10 exhaust. Then I saw the Borla header and thought that it would be a good solid pair for the car @@SSJDanny

did you just remove all emblems/badges off the car? how did you cover the holes on the back and front? and what about the indentation for the emblem in the front did you just leave it there without sanding it? does it not look bad?
@SSJDanny Жыл бұрын
Yes, I used bondo to fill in the holes then sanded it down. As for the indentation for the front emblem I left as is since it’s not a circle but out like the BRZ or 86 bumpers. Although it would look better if you filled it in. I didn’t look bad either

does it pop with no tune? cause if that’s the case imma buy the car rn
@SSJDanny Жыл бұрын
Being catless will allow you to have some pops here and there between shifts and downshifts without a tune. But if you want loud pops and on command I’d suggest a tune.

Borla V2! They get a lot of hate because of the “quality” but I’ve ran them for almost 3 years and a pop tune with no issues

@@SSJDanny hey! Why the Borla’s over the Tomei? Especially given the Tomei everywhere else? Thanks!
@SSJDanny Жыл бұрын
@@mresab1997 I think at the time it’s what was in stock. But even after comparing exhausts with others who had a tomei header and the same catback, mine always sounded a bit deeper which I like. Tomei is great! Just never got around to switching because I never had any issues with the Borla V2. But I guess I’m just lucky mine haven’t cracked as most people would say lol

I enjoyed your video, but if you take it to a dyno I can probably guarantee you are losing not only torque but maybe even power. I'm speaking from personal experience. You might gain a few hp up at the very top near 7K, if any at all, but the lack of proper exhaust scavenging and the turbulent airflow is probably costing you power. As much as I like the sound, if you want performance you are better off with stock or a full 2.5 to 2.75 inch exhaust setup. Only use this exhaust if you're FI. If you want even louder, God help you and everyone else around you, you should just strait pipe the entire exhaust.
@SSJDanny Жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for info and advice! 🙏🏽
@burakoshimazaki Жыл бұрын
@@SSJDanny you're welcome. I had OFT before with stage 2+ tune and I made maybe 192 HP with the Greddy Revolution RS, nearly identical to the Tomei Type 80. With a transmission control factor accounting, maybe 168 ± 5hp at the wheels at a hub Dynapak. Granted I don't have access to ethanol but Japanese high octane is 93 to 94 AKI equivalent I believe. Now that I'm turbocharged I use the Tomei Type 80, but I'm still working out how to keep turbulence down or eliminate it because I'm still using stock front pipe, everything else is HKS turbo manifold and Tomei exhaust parts. My goal is to have the diameter from the Tomei overpipe transition as smoothly as possible to 3 inch if I'm able to, and hopefully that will increase scavenging, reduce what little lag I have, and increase lower end torque. I'd love to help you out if you have any questions in turn. I'm currently using EcuTek and used Delicious Tuning but will change to a local tuner in Japan or use CSG's Zach since DT screwed me.
