Eating foods made the traditional way as opposed to the store bought ones is definitely the way to do it. I ate some Chinese crepes by a local vendor on the streets and it was very good. Everyone in Netherlands and all the people I've met from there, always seem so friendly. Plus it's pretty cool how a lot of them speak English.

When you are at dutch market usually on a saterday, also try to buy fried codfish, its called kabeljauw in Dutch. Its huge and the tasty fish oil is sealed inside the batter when fried.

The ones you get in your fan packages, try placing them on top of your freshly made mug of tea for a minute or so, they soften up with the steam and become gooey and more delicious. Of course, nothing will beat the fresh ones but this is a good alternative for the packet ones.
