❤️Subscribe 👇🏾Hello Friends! Today I am sharing my granny's homemade sweet potato pie recipe. It is by far the most requested video that my family has made. That is because no one comes close to duplicating it, aside from my mother and myself. Hopefully this will help a few of them out, as well as you. Who else eat's sweet potato pie, or is this just a southern thing? One thing that I can attest to, if you try this, you will be asking yourself "pumpkin what?" Let me know in the comments, what are some of your favorite dishes your grandmother shared with you.
Peach Cobbler video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nLBkfLCGspbbgoU.html
Tips On Making the Perfect Sweet Potato Pie:
1. Start with medium large potatoes and try to get ones that are rounder in shape.
2. As a general rule, 1 potato equals 1 pie, so if you need 4 pies, you need at least 4 medium-large potatoes.
3. Wash your potatoes well before boiling them, and add enough water to cover your potatoes.
4. Boil them as long as it takes for a fork to penetrate the largest potato closest to the top of the pot.
5. After allowing the potatoes to cool to the point that you can handle them, remove all the skin and any eyes that may remain.
6. You will need at least 1/2 stick of butter for each pie. For example, you need 2 sticks of butter for 4 pies, at a min.
7. Mash you potatoes and butter together and about 1 ounce of whole milk (Evaporated milk works if you don't have whole milk).
8. For the eggs, you need 1 egg per pie.
9. You have the option of adding your whisked eggs to your puree mixture at the beginning, or waiting until you've reached your desired sweetness and flavor of your puree "custard."
10. This is where you earn your "cook" label. You honestly will need to taste and go until you're done. My guess is 3.5 cups of sugar, 2.5 tsp of nutmeg and 4 teaspoons of vanilla.
11. Use Pet-Ritz deep dish, pie crusts...they are the best ones.
12. Fill each pie crust up 1/4 of an inch to the top. Make sure not to get any filling on the exposed pie shells. As a safety measure, you can place the pies on a baking sheet before putting them in the oven.
13. Bake on 355 for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
14.Make sure you take them out when they brown (crust & filling).

I learned to cook from my mom, dad, and Nana. She is from SC and she always used her bare hands for alot. She is 90, 91 in Dec and because of her teachings the hot food doesn't bother me either. They call them oven hands. I'm 31 and I love how much influence my Nana has over my cooking

Love to watch our grannies cooking. No weighting of ingredients just eye judging the amount and they always comes out good and delicious. I was taught to take out the whites from the eggs too by my elders in my family and it is something I have taught my own children up to this very day whenever they're using eggs. We younger ones cannot beat out grannies in the kitchen. Thanks for sharing.💝

Thank you for posting, I wish I had recorded my Grandmama's cooking techniques. I can only remember. My Grandmama didn't write down recipes. After 98 years of living a full Christian life, she went home to the Lord in 2020. This video reminds me of some of the techniques she used. I'll watch the peach cobbler video, too. Having watched so many videos, I learned that every recipe is different. Only time, experience, and what works for you will determine what recipe you use. For example, boiling vs. baking sweet potatoes. Using lemon extract or not. Removing the white thing from the eggs or not. The number of eggs, potatoes, cups of suger. It's all good.❤️❤️❤️

I love it I remember cooking with my Grandma I'm the only one who makes pie and all her desserts like her this year makes 11 years since she's been gone and it gives me great pleasure making pies and seeing family enjoy them my mom and uncle cry when they take a piece. Continue getting your Granny recipes. Abundant Blessing.🎀

Sis this video gave me LIFE! This is exactly how my mom made them. I do it exactly the way she did it. So much Love and care and Passion put in those pies. Now I understand what the old folk ment when you ask what all did you put in the pies and they respond LOVE!😍😭😍😭 THATS WHAT MAKES THEM SO DELICIOUS! Thank you for this Most Excellent video.

The first video I have seen that takes the strings out of the sweet potatoes. Exactly how my mom taught me to do it. Hate to bite into a piece of sweet potato pie and get a mouth full of strings. Thanks granny. ❤

I really loved this video, I make my pies just like this except I bake my potatoes, my grandmothers taught me how to cook and they’re both gone now and I miss cooking with them. I will teach my daughters and grandkids to cook to pass on the spatula. 🥧 Thank you for sharing your lovely grandmother with us, love you Granny ❤️

She made that with love. That's the difference between women like your granny and the ladies of today. We cook to eat because we have to whereas granny loves us and the art of cooking so much - fishing for that white piece in the eggs matters to her. Loved this video. Reminds me of making sweet potato pies with my mother in love last holiday season. ❤️❤️ I do my best to soak up that wisdom any chance I get!

Omgosh I’m so jealous that you have such an amazing sweet granny that knows how to cook. And seriously, I love her way of measuring it’s definitely a cooks way so you videotaping her and sharing it is an absolute beautiful way to share her talents and her recipes with all of us so THANKS to the BOTH of you, and your momma as well. Happy Holidays and I can’t wait to make this for my hubby 🙏🏻

Love this video! I do a similar recipe but add a hint of lemon juice, fresh squeezed lemon or lemon extract to bump up the flavors. You don’t even taste it. I also use evaporated milk and add eggs at the end but everything else is the way my grandma taught me!
