Why not just buy a Cronos. They make this watch with both the NH35 and the PT5000 in date and no date versions. It is pretty much a clone of a real Rolex at around $200. It also has the same glide lock clasp as a Rolex. It's a fantastic watch.

@@e28forever30 lume is the least important feature to me. Durability and movement and usability of the bezel are more important - I use the bezel on my watches daily. I'm asleep when the lume is in action. Everyone has their favorite features. To me lume is last in the list.

Hello, I'd say drop the bucks on the Davosa because it's a solid well-made diver. It doesn't look like a cheap homage and I've had mine since 1994 and its still running flawlessly.

Davosa is a better build I'd say

The Davosa Ternos (at $900) costs 80% more than my $500 Herodia ... which is I think a classic example of the Law of Diminishing Returns

I think it is - if you google Herodia there are some old forum posts suggesting they were made by Squale, and then I think they went on hiatus. The 1545 20 atmos is still a pretty big seller internationally but I think Squale wants to move their main brand away from association w homages. Hence rebranding the 1545 with a more original design for the US market and maybe reintroducing the 20 atmos as this? Also this is almost identical to the 20atmos mk2 currently on gnomon.

Yup. This case is made by Squale or at least bought by Squale and used by Squale and Davosa. I used to have the Davosa Ternos version. It's a nice watch. This one looks like it has a bit more of a maxi dial which is nice as well. Never liked the small markers on the Squale / Davosa version.

The company is owned by the same people behind Squale. I can't say it's the same case, but I guess that wouldn't be too much of a stretch.

I had an opportunity to see a Davosa in person a few years ago (I was at Roosevelt field and struck up a conversation with another watch fanatic who randomly happened to be carrying one around with him in a shopping bag, true story). I was totally blown away with that watch. To me it was a cut above the typical sub homage watch…..this could still be an awesome watch though

Just for the record, I purchased... with fingers crossed ... three Seiko SKX watches ... when they cost about $239 each ... from Marc not-all-that-long-ago. Rolling the dice. Every one was perfect. And they're all rolling-along just tickety-boo. My newer SARX057? It loses 25 seconds each day. It's just "the luck of the draw" ...

every brand has it's own style. Most of my Islander bracelets that are 20mm do to go 16mm, but it's not universal.

So ... just curious ... why does Marc so quickly concede (elsewhere here in the comments-section) that the Davosa clomage is "better finished) than my Herodia?? Marc? Anybody else? Feel free to "chime-in" here ... I have zero "real world frame-of-reference" here ... other than my apparently awesome perfect/awesome Herodia. I live in a rural blue collar mountain town ... and absolutely love the place and its peeps. Watches (cool or otherwise) are typically scorned and/or invisible/ignored. So, I just wear that watch for me ... it makes me feel good.. And I have a perfect casual reply if anybody ever says/asks, "That's a nice watch ... " But that will never happen ... but if it does ... I have practiced a perfect nonplussed response ... "Hey! You have a good eye for a great design ...

Agree! I own the Cronos no date with the PT5000. Beautiful watch for the money. It is basically a Rolex clone. The glide lock clasp is fantastic.

I'm seeing a surprising number of comments referencing AliX brands. I think we're on the cusp of another "quartz crisis" moment. Non-Swiss watches with exceptional features and build quality at a much lower price. I'm not sure Swiss means enough at the sub-$1000 end of the market to many buyers to deter them from a sub-$300 Chinese watch.

As soon as I saw the clasp on this I thought "San Martins are better than this thing..."

I got Herodia, it was really itchy and caused red bumps all over my back. Luckily it was not contagious but there is no cure. Hope it goes away soon....
