This year's Albuquerque Balloon Festival is the 49th annual year, and the event has grown quite a bit since the first 13 balloons were launched in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1972. Today you can expect to see more than 500 hot air balloons flying in the sky, with 6 countries participating and 90 special shape balloons. The event brings more than 800,000 visitors and takes place this year from October 2nd-10th in Albuquerque, NM where the weather is ideal for flying! Albuquerque, New Mexico hosts the balloon fiesta each year (the event was canceled last year for safety precautions). Some of the more popular events are the early Dawn Patrol, the unbelievable sight of Mass Ascension, the stunning Night Glow, and the Special Shapes Rodeo. The world's largest hot air balloon festival had always been on our bucket list but little did we know this would be an experience of a lifetime!

This is awesome. Riding in a hot air balloon is def' on our bucket list, for one of a few different countries - whichever pans out most organically. And, "special shapes" is an understatement! Tose Star Wars balloons are RAD! 15 bucks, pretty cheap! Great video, guys!!

What a great experience, nothing like ticking items from the bucket list! Dawn flights are the best, amazing to see that many of them together. That must have been an awesome vibe to witness. Beautiful balloons all around, especially the Star Wars balloons. 😉Nice editing work as well, cool video all together. 😄👍 (Funny bit at the end too 😂)

Thanks for watching! Yeah, It was definitely a great experience and one we'd do again in a heartbeat. Next time we are around hot air balloons we have to get up for a ride though.

Same here. Thought "ok 7,000 is about what I'd guess" but then I found out that was only the used price. It's like buying a car! There's an extensive piloting course too. If I had money to plurge I'd consider it. Already know some of the terms and charts thanks to Part 107 test. 🤣

This was really cool! We had the opportunity to ride in a hot air ballon here in Orlando in a mini festival back in 2018. Although we stayed tethered we got some pretty decent distance between us and the ground. It was very cool slightly scary - Jackson hahaha

I, Tony, am afraid of heights. And although I can usually work up the courage, I think something like that would be good for me before jumping right into a hot air balloon hundreds of feet about the ground.

This festival looks so incredible! Seeing the special shapes balloons was really cool....especially the Star Wars ones. I had no idea balloons were so expensive 😮 You two did a wonderful job capturing and sharing the experience.

Right! I thought it would cost way more than $15. It's definitely worth seeing at least once. Next time we're going to try and get up on one. Just so expensive. When I check it was like $350 per person for a half Hr.

I did not use a drone for this video. I'm pretty sure they put a temporary flight striction on most of, if not all of Albuquerque while the fiesta is ongoing. At the time I think I still have the DJI mavic air, but have since upgraded to the DJI mavic 3

What hotels in the area do you recommend to stay in?

We stayed at an Airbnb so we can’t speak to any hotels in the area. I do remember hotels being very expensive. Best to book early!!
