Have you tried the rubber paint on a pair of grips? It's made for trucks and cars to coat wheels and bumpers etc.. I found it on eBay, you need to use their special primer and do quite a few coats thinly one at a time for the best adhesion and structural quality. Just though it might work quite nicely on grips like these custom ones. I've used it for building latex covered custom 1/6 fully articulated figures that need paint to stretch not crack.

I think the best solution would be to find somebody who could make a wood copy of factory Chiappa Rhino wood grips. Kimpoi offers that solution but their design with logo placed in the centre is not like with the original design with the logo placed down. Kimpoi has another finger grooves solution as well like the factory one has, but neither there the design replicates the original design. Also Kimpoi has the side screw that ruins the original design even more. So some good wood factory replica is required.

If you're printing with the external face up then you could play about with fuzzy skin slicer settings to get different textures.

I dont anything what so ever about 3d printing but how would resin do in this situation? Is it even possible? But the grips look really nice James well done to you boys keep it up!!

You could make this in a resin printer as long as the printer has enough build volume (and enough resin in the tank). You would have to look around to see what resin would work best for it, if you want something sturdy. I know FormLabs has different types of resin for actual mechanical/physical use, but I'm not sure how well those resins do in other printers.

Problem is that the left side of the grip, is part of the entire h8r shell

@@thor_269that's my biggest complaint about the H8R. It seems like the only options are making a weird half-grip, or getting creative with a dremel.
