@charles6705
@charles6705 Жыл бұрын
Hey guys fluid changes should keep your pilot running a long long time. I change them myself. I can change the transmission fluid in literally 8 mins. One plug. Drain it and fill. Oil and filter one plug. approximately 10 mins. Transfer case 7 min 2 plugs drain and fill plug remove FIRST. Drain it and fill it up. Rear differential. two plugs fill and drain remove fill plug FIRST then drain and fill.12 min. Dealer quoted $1200.00 screw that. My cost about $125.00 for fluids.

Makes so much sense having an old school, naturally aspirated engine in a large SUV. I don't understand why they put these tiny engines with turbo and gdi in these new heavy vehicles. Scotty, you're a car genius. Thanks for teaching us all so much about cars.
@raymondhuynh25
@raymondhuynh25 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Justin, it has to do with our Governments putting enormous pressure on automakers to produce highly fuel efficient and less carbon polluting vehicles each year. They are increasing the benchmark every few years and naturally aspirated engines will not win those tests in the future. You will see more hybrids and small turbos until they eventually get phased out with electric vehicles due to Government intervention. There is a tax/fine if automakers fail to meet the emissions tests. =(

Just replaced timing belt, water pump, and serpentine belt just to make sure we have no issues. Today, just bought the parts to replace the front suspension (lower control arm bushing cracked open), and therefore getting the whole suspension done to make it ride 100% again, but now I'm thinking we still have time on some of the items.. I diagnosed a misfire on this Honda, one of the things I noticed was the EGR was slightly stuck open and PVC valve was not sealing anymore. Replace this PCV valve, they cost around ~$4.00 bucks at autozone and they are easy to replace. Another thing is, the EGR pathway usually gets clogged at the top of the engine. That intake cover you see on the engine, just remove the 10mm bolts holding it down and pull the cover off, keep an eye on the position of the seal as you could put it back flipped which will not direct the exhaust gasses to the right path. Clean using a pick or small screwdriver and you will be golden, sometimes you can't see the pathway because of so much carbon build up but it will have a lot of channel that goes to each cylinder.

Our 2007 Honda Pilot EX-L we bought brand new is still kicking down the road at 210K plus miles with the original engine and transmission. We've done the regular maintenance on it and just spent last week replacing the power steering o-rings since it was whining. Love this car and it's pretty easy I think to work on if you have to.

Years later it goes pretty solid and it never had any real problems. I’ve borrowed it for work and it was reliable I almost wanted the car lol and Heck we took it to the N.C. state fair once since it was the only Suv and it was solid. It has 260,000 miles now and I find it funny when family members still think that car is at its limit haha. But the Pilot is reasonably fantastic option for a great reliable, every day car. Yunno, I ask my friends "What car do you have?" and they reply, "2019 Volkswagen Jetta, 2018 Audi Q7, Mercedes CLA 45 2016" or "2020 Chevy Camaro ZL1," but then the ask me what I have, I say "2004 Camry" They all immediately burst laughing and say ew, Camrys are boring. Also this was after a horrendous experience with a Ford Windstar (which at the time was voted the best minivan by a major car magazine) on which I also got the extended warranty , I even got one on my mechanically reliable loaded 2014 Mazda 3S mainly because of all of the high end electronic options many of which have since failed and needs to go in again for the rear camera and the turn as you steer headlights.

I am sorry, I have to comment on this. Scotty said that the Pilot's interior is in immaculate shape. The roof liner is caving in. Now I know that this was a common issue in Hondas at that time and I don't dispute the fact that it is by and large a quality vehicle. However, if it's a Hyundai, the anti-Korea basis comes out. Maybe a little earlier because I remember Darryl Waltrip running the Mountain Dew Regal and that might have been ‘85. don’t know about other sports but I can tell you NASCAR has killed itself, it isn’t dying due to kids not interested in cars. NASCAR was rivaling the NFL in the late 90s and early 2000s as far as popularity. Then #3 died. Then all the rule changes hit. Then the ugly and homogenous car of tomorrow. Then the playoff system. Then each race was divided into halves. They kept mucking with everything that made it great, that made it must-watch TV for 3 hours every Sunday in summer. And instead of 130,000 at Charlotte Motor Speedway they’re getting 50,000. NASCAR did it to themselves. They drove away the die-hard enthusiasts.

I agree. My parents bought a 2005 honda pilot and it still runs like a champ at 305,6xx miles.

anyone gonna mention how he said it was a RWD bias when it's clearly a transverse mounted engine?

@@GuerreroDelInfo wrong. ur thinking of SH-AWD exclusive to Acura. a subaru man knows his awd

@@GuerreroDelInfo no it’s a front wheel drive biased car with awd if it slips up front. it’s still a very powerful platform and i still really do like scotty.

Correct. Front wheel drive platform originating from the Odessy minivan. Not rear wheel drive. That’s why the can’t tow that much.

You are correct the Honda pilot is a fwd/awd crossover. Like it's twin the acura mdx. The acura rdx is just a fancier version of the Honda CR-V crossover. Sometimes I think scotty gives out the wrong info. But I trust whatever he says
