True. Good analog goggles cost around 400€ and more here in germany. So i wanted to buy the Eachine EV100 for around 150€ this week, because the Walksnail Goggles X are too expensive (500€). But i think i will buy the Walksnail Goggles L instead. 😊

@@mplouisat least here in Spain is so easy to get dji goggles v2 for less than 300, and v1s for 200, so this should get even cheaper to make sense. On the 150sh range. Also, goggles X are selling pretty cheap bc people is getting rid of them with so many issues. I know that comparing to second hand market it is not fair, but there's just so much offer that it is going to kill this product. I only see this for people that really want the walksnail system for whoops

I left FPV flying about 10 years ago and was using FrSky, Taranis remote and analog Fatshark goggles on 5 and 7 inch drones... Returning now to this great hobby, I found it quite confusing at first to understand the different new digital video systems but I think that Avatar/Walksnail is the way to go for me as I want to fly both 2’’ whoops around the house and 5“ freestyle/cruisers out in the wild. I was also considering the HD zero route but if I understood well the image quality at longer range is not as sharp which is also important for me. Thanks for your very comprehensive video and thorough analysis.

6:10 The microSD card slot is in exactly the same place in the other affordable Walksnail box goggles, the Fatshark Recon HD. In the Recon HD's its not covered up by the foam, though.

Great review, thank you. A range test tilted up and down might be good (although possibly wont reveal anything significant unless there's patch antennae in there). Also, an assessment of comfort whilst wearing the googles on your forehead would be great.

There is a patch antenna and it does make a small difference if you have it aligned. Head down could be close to the 90 degrees test.

I have DJI v2 and a collection of Caddx and 03's (on AOS frames), but I really want to get some tiny whoops. I flew a mates analog and i hated the image quality. However that same friend upgraded to walksnail 1s, and it is fantastic. I have been humming and harring about buying some Goggles X or Avatars just to whoop with but couldnt bring myself to spend $450USD on googles just to fly a whoop. I am 1000% going to get a pair of these so I can run the walksnail 1s units on 65 and 75 drones. Literally watched this and UAV's reviews and am sold.

The affordability is a huge selling point. Extra antenna plugs would have been nice though. I think a large part of the market wants 1 or 2 drones with good video at a cheaper, good value for money price point.

@ChrisRosser For DJI Goggles 3 they are marketing 24ms latency. Any possibility of testing the Goggles 3 latency?

Hi, fantastic review :) , also for the goggles x have you tried testing for its true rms? Because some countries will limit you to how much eirp you can transmit including the antenna. Say the walksnail v3 vtx only outputs 500mw at the 1200mw setting do the goggles transmit more or stays at the same 500mw?

@@anthony_horton Not to mention you can drill the holes out on the top of the Recon HD to install external antennas. They use four patch antennas on the Recon HD, so remove two of them and replace with omnis and you have something possibly better for around $60-70 more. I wonder if you can open up the Avatar L goggles and send an SMA to ufl cable (assuming they used ufl patch antennas) out of the head tracker port then stick an omni to the side.

Love the low price, but the headtracking is not helping that. Who thought "We must include headtracking!"? They could have lowered the cost more or used the "headtracking" money towards making it work with analog also.

Head tracking is a basically free feature to add in manufacturing for the goggles. Gyros are less than a penny.

dji integra -340$. There is no ipd ajustment in the googles L. Its a very important fact. Some people may go cross-eyed thanks to it. And focal length of any box googles is really short- its bad too.

I think there may be a small amout of additinal output delay on the VRX maybe a couple of ms. Input delay on the HDZero goggles is also 1-2ms

You basically dismiss DJI with very outdated pricing information despite even mentioning it in the title and recommending the Goggle X alot - which actually cost more than DJI Integra for months now. 349$ is not "maybe 600$" and O3 is 229$ without any discounts, with replacement cameras available for 17$. Also no mention of reliability, QA, bugs etc. Otherwise great review, but that DJI comparison is just bad to put it mildly. Goggles X + Walksnail Moonlight 4k are more expensive than a DJI Integra + O3, with DJI still winning (arguably) in quality and reliability. And that assumes that you even get the Walksnail stuff anywhere and it isn't DoA.

Great comment! The $349 price is a heavily discounted price, regular price for integra is $500 USD. ~$600 dollar price includes the VTX.

@@ChrisRosser $349 is what you pay today and in the future for DJI Integra which I think is more important than the release price? 600 including VTX is closer, but in the video you say "maybe 600 dollars for the goggles alone" (23:50). Sure DJI still isn't budget, but value is really relative. Matching features (100fps feed, quite good 4k recording) DJI might even be the cheapest option.

No Goggles L does not support 100fps so no race mode.

If one buys the WS Avatar system VRX to attach to ones analog goggles you are spending little over $200 bucks on it alone. Add the Kit be it 1S or V2 that price increases from that $219 to $320+ take these Goggle L at $199 and just add a pre built WS drone ( say a micro ) from around $150 to over $300 depends on what you are looking for That brings anyone wanting to get into HD near a closer price then what they have spent on analog equipment . My Skyzone goggles were the same price at the time I bought them for analog $199 plus tax and shipping a little over $200 bucks and not to mention multiple analog kwads I have bought and own May allow me to try HD a little faster ( cheaper ) if I choose to . interesting

Today, aside from the 04X pro, I dont know of any analog goggles that can do 1080p60hz. The 04O pro used to, but now they’re only 720p. Honestly I think for some people this will be a better experience than a VRX

I would buy these glasses because I want to mount them on my RC plane, but I don't know which camera I should buy with them so that I don't have to pay more than 350 euros. Is it really? Chris has plain wrong/outdated information in the video. Walksnail Goggles X + Moonlight 4k cost MORE than DJI Integra + O3 - if you can even find it anywhere. And then WS stuff just breaks way more, still has worse penetration, worse image quality etc. Sure if all you need is 60fps box goggles, don't need good recordings and are ok with a reliability gamble and/or really want good video on tinywhoops, WS might be good value.
