It doesn't matter whether or not you go first. There are sure strategies for both sides, and if both players know the game well, then it'll always be a draw... I gott admit tho I wonder about that variation where one of your moves gets cancelled, I'm not sure how that would play out...

@@wilfweNightskyYeah but part of the reason tic-tac-toe gets played as much as it is is that it can easily be set up on the spot and the rules can be explained in seconds assuming both players somehow don’t know them. All you need is paper and pencil or whatever can substitute for them. This on the other hand is a big hunk of plastic you have to pull out and have batteries for.

"Most previous" doesn't work, but it's the right phrase. The full phrase is "most recent previous". Personally I prefer just saying "most recent". But they both mean the same thing.

That is an interesting idea. I also remember an electronic tic-tac-toe game I had as a kid that could could do 3D tic-tac-toe. It was basically three boards, displayed at an angle like they were stacked on top of each other, and you could make 3-in-a-row on any one board or across all three boards. Years later, when me and my siblings were going for our drivers' and learners' permits (and spending hours at the DMV as a result), we started drawing out 3 tic-tac-toe boards on a sheet of paper and using them to play 3-way 3D tic-tac-toe using x's, o's, and Δ's.
