What's your favorite way to play Project Zomboid? 👀

A friend of mine and I were just forced out of our base by a horde, so we just moved out into the woods near a lake and have been roughing it since then. So I can imagine playing exclusively like that would be tons of fun.

I would love for the devs to add to the eexisting map a big forest map with small lakes or rivers that will perfectly fit for wilderness survival.They can also add a spawn point somewhere there.That will pretty much solve the need to start new game if at one point of your playthrough you want to move to urban area.

I think we're gonna have a lot of fun with 42 and wilderness survival.

I love this idea of Primal Zomboid game mode. The one addition I'd love to see in Build 42 is a Caves & Caverns tileset that spawns in caves above ground and then sloping ground into cavern networks as well, to go with the addition of animals (maybe needing to clear bears or wolves to move in).

a wilderness survival PvE server would be an absolute gift to humankind... if only a carefully curated server was running that at the moment

I love playing on the Forest map! I usually play with MaD's Awesome Zombie Loot so I occasionally get random items, its so fun and I felt like I won the actual jackpot when a zombie spawned in with a fire axe :D

I have a run in the wilderness survival, it’s been great, I’ve balanced it with a few mods for food conservation, metalworking, more crafting recipes, etc

Scenarios or character stories are probably my favourite way to play right now, create a character with a purpose or a mission and see how long it takes or even if I can complete my goals. The new system definitely fits perfectly with wilderness or late apocalypse type scenarios, anything where there's very little loot. But I think you're spot on with the game needing its own wilderness type map to support the new system! Realistically speaking I'm not sure how useful a lot of the new crafting, especially basic and low tier items, will be for for most normal runs on urban maps with any kind of loot. In fact the more I think about it I'm even starting to worry a little, as big of an overhaul as this is could it potentially have a negative impact on the more normal / less wildernessy playthroughs? Will we still be able to do the basic carpentry type things we do now with a hammer and saw like cut planks, build walls, etc or will we be forced to go through a system of skill grinding to craft work benches, saw tables and the like first just to do the simple things we currently take for granted? Hopefully using the carpentry example it'll be a mix of both, with just hand tools you can craft rough frames and simple planks but for more higher quality you need saw tables and work benches. And will the crafting stations be available out in the world either as lootable items or ones we can pick up from appropriate locations to place and use in our bases? So many words, sorry about that! i would love that you make a serie with your wilderness survivals mods to see how it is and it sound really enjoyable to watch

I think I'll try this out in build 42. I think a map that allows you to enter a run down city after a year survived in the forest would be lit. Force you to be a primitive beast and then take your sharp sticks into a city to get guns and stuff. One question though. Is there a craft added to make a leather satchel or backpack? Think that would be cool too.

level 3 carpentry for those spears are a godsend for this map. on day 8. I am able to execute several zombies with 1 spear no problem. easy to bait them out too. I have about 10 tree branches lying around. I use spears so much!

Giving this a go now! It was a real thrill spawning in on apoc settings into the middle of a group of 30-40 zombies! Having fun so far, on day 4 or 5 now maybe - not sure, haven't found a watch yet. Is there any way to add SF Farming Time and Crafting Enhanced Core to the collection? These are required by the Weaving mod but you don't get auto-subbed to them when you sub to the collection. I think an all wilderness map would be great for b41 but on top of that I think it wouldn't be a bad idea for a randomly generated wilderness map option either. a new experience every run and unlike an urban environment wildernest leans itself really well to random generation.

I set up this mod list for me and a friend. Honestly kind of underwhelmed by the lack of things to do once we've fished and built our wooden shack. All of the tailoring stuff from yaki's mod takes the tailoring bench from the crafting expanded mod and that bench takes screws and metal. The weaving mod's loom also takes an actual hammer, not a stone hammer. I guess I could get lucky and a zombie could have a hammer on him?

A wilderness map would be cool. If it is an island it can double for a scenario for "marooned while escaping zombies on mainland"

I'm still new, so i went with a custom game where the pop starts small but builds up to max after about two months, to give me a fighting chance.

obvious collecting / foraging mod should be perfect for this

I have a few hundred hours in Project Zomboid and dont even know ow to craft a campfire or make stone tools. Urban survivor it is :P

usually in my classic zomboid setup i give myself 30 extra points. im 30 years old so makes sense lol also i spawn naked and always turn my loot down to insanely rare for more actual realism and last. instant water shut off lumberjack and park ranger are best professions i go for this i think its always challenging OH! i also turn my zombies up to either 2.5 or if im feeling masochistic i go to 4.0 foraging will save your life with no food and other foraging mods its worth to play it. go strong and obese lol its fun and will also make eating less priority in the beginning until you can get cabbages farmed.

Honestly, the Indie Stone should just hire the maker or use it as a base for a survival map that you could expand as the game grows.

I love going to the woods and building, its what i always do. but having no towns feels wrong. id be happy if they just added a 100% guaranteed start in a location FAR FAR in to the woods. So walking back would literally take hours, that way its all still "out there" for later. The woods map just seem empty with nothing ahead to be scared of or anything interesting to go out looking for.

When you make these type of videos, could you please include the load order as well? I’m a noob and I don’t understand load orders

I like wilderness survival mode, but I like having towns n such. Waiting for NPCs to fear while exploring.

Hi. I actually started solo run with this packed of mods... Or so I thought. Somehow I can still ware zombies cloths. Which mod or setting changes that?

In a wilderness built house characters can't be barefoot indoors. That's my only issue. I like leaving my footwear by the entrance but if my character is going to be injured all game long then it's not good at all

Might not get a reply since this is an old video, but i installed all the mods and am having a blast, however i am unable to build any of the special stations as they dont recognize my stone hammer as a tool hammer, is there any way around this? (im playing in the forest map so i doubt theres any way i could get a normal hammer without cheating the system

Where can I find a good mod list that doesn't break? I keep modifying but something always ends up not working.

The forest? I live here every day. It’s called Alaska.

There is a -7 trait in the workshop called Relentless Scavenger which makes your character always be in search mode. It's pretty great for this map

unfortunately i use soulfilchers awesome time wich while it does have the farming mod integrated it wont work with the weaving mod

Does anyone have a recommendation for a server provider with a simple process for setting up a modded server for a small group of friends to play on?

It's not for me. I'm specifically drawn to the post apocalyptic element of urban settings.

the best way to play is subjective, you could find different ways of playing and finding them more fun than this, this game doesnt have to be meta

I don't know... I tried it and got bored pretty quickly. The foraging, fishing, and trapping are fun, but the crafting is atrocious. The main problem is the UI, but the recipes also make little sense. Without mods there's barely anything you can craft, and most mods are very unbalanced and weird. Mods or not, the crafting experience is just terrible as a whole. Maybe it will be improved in B42 but I don't think it will be enough to keep me personally interested in the game. I really enjoy driving around and scavenging for loot in various urban or rural environments, and extending/securing buildings I like, while having to deal with the constant zombie threat, that's what PZ is for me. It does get boring after a while, and that's when I'm taking a break from the game. Playing multiplayer kept things interesting for much longer, and I'm looking forward for the human NPCs to revive my interest in single player, but I'm sceptical about the complex crafting and post-post apocalyptic viability, that's not the kind of vibe that got me into PZ.

Seems like youre trying to play another game in PZ, maybe you should try taking a visit to "survival games" on steam. By putting "Best way to play" on the title is a bit misleading, since its YOUR favorite way.

Always been keen on a medieval overhaul for Zomboid. This is very close.
