I’m a retired insurance agent. That’s a profession that technology is rapidly rendering irrelevant. I saw the handwriting on the wall and decided, after 38 years, to sell my agency at market value and retire. That is proving to be a wise decision. Personal lines insurance like cars, homes, boats can be easily sold on line. Commercial insurance is more complicated but I think that will eventually be sold mostly on line too. Technology is destroying a number of jobs and careers but that’s how civilizations advance, but technology is also offering new opportunities and careers. If I was a college student I’d definitely major in computer and technology degrees.

Also they don’t really tailor the insurance to the specific needs as an insurance agent would. Not good.

@@jubjuicebruin2741 I was an independent agent. My agency represented about 20 insurance companies. We’d shop all 20 companies to find our client the lowest cost coverage with a quality company, such as Safeco, Hartford, Progressive, and other A+ rated national companies. In other words, we were doing the same thing as these on line price shopping entities are doing now. I was already at retirement age, so selling my agency was the better option for me.

Does the app do a credit check, hard or soft?

I don’t think any insurance companies do hard credit pulls anymore. If they run it, I expect it to be a soft pull. Have you had some do a hard one?

Based on the small info I looked at the are decent to average rating over all and are not a fit for most home owners. Without doing more research I would say they aren’t really what I would look for especially since I don’t see them talk about getting a bundle discount. Not a deal breaker but 🤷🏽‍♂️

Isn’t possible that car insurance agent lie on the application for customers to get cheap cost Then later car insurance denied claim because they think customers lie?

It’s possible but highly unlikely a claim would get denied for mileage driven. There might be a back dated surcharge for the incorrect premium but in most cases that is what I would expect.

You know agent can lie about the mile use or commutes vs pleasant use. When customers tell commutes mile use the agent enter pleasant use then premium less but when get to accident car insurance denies claim and tell that customer lie to get cheap premium?

There is paperwork the customer is sent to review and sign. In that it will state the vehicle use and estimated miles driven. It is important that you review that before signing it otherwise even if the agent did that on purpose, you are attesting that it’s correct.

Thank you for quick reply. I still have other questions, I will have car insurance policy with Geico soon, I ask the agent if I can add other car to my policy to get multiple discount. I told agent that the car is not my, it's my brother car I do add him as the driver in my policy. He has his own car with his own insurance, I want to know if I can add his car to my policy, agent said ok but to my knowledge the car have to be own by me in order to add. How come agent said it's OK, isn't this something I don't know or different car insurance policy different? We are living in different house now, before we live in same house he just move out but his car registered is still at my house. Thank you

They won’t let you do that. You would have to be the registered owner of his car and he would need to live with you and added onto the policy as a driver in order to do so

I do trying to add on my geico app they do let me add. This is strange.
