This video really impacted me because, last summer, I camped off my bike with almost the exact same setup (ENO hammock, blanket, JetBoil, boil-bag meals and coffee) in almost the exact same environment (campground in the woods by a river). It brought back good memories watching this video.

They're called Bear Boxes and help keep animals out of human food and scented items. If a bear gets into human food too often, they'll euthanize them (very summarized explanation).

Great video as always! For us moto campers in the Southeast, I'll throw out the Lawson Hammock as a great option too. Built-in bug net(for all those mosquitos and noseeums) as well as spreader bars so you don't feel like you're in a cocoon all night. Definitely on the pricey side, but it's the last hammock you'll ever need to buy!

So much great camping advice here for people! I love cooking this way, fine dining in the outdoors. I’ll second getting a quilt for extra warmth, I use the same one. And agame changing pillow for me has been the Nemo Fillo after hearing Dork in the Road recco it. The size of inflatable but the better comfort of a foam. Loved watching! Reminded me of my camp next to the Truckee River. Ride safe!

Staci, another great video, love seeing you "out and about", however, I would recommend trying out a Warbonnet Blackbird (BB XL) or El Dorado. Or even a Hennessy Expedition Asym Zip. I think you'd enjoy either one of those three a little better than being turned into a human taco in that Wise Owl or even that ENO. you get what you pay for. Amazon is NOT the place to get quality, durable camping gear. Guys if you're gonna use the gear on a routine basis, buy once, cry once. The hammocks I mention have built-in bug nets, in the case of the Warbonnets you can remove the bugnet or pull it back if you dont want one between you and the big blue. And besides buying from the companies I mentioned supports American cottage industries, Wise Owl....mmm not so much! But at the end of the day it's your $$$ so, you do you.

Not sure quite how hot your cooking system gets but try using a fire starting log . Break it into a small piece and drop it on your stoves ash catcher. A little lighter fuel or hand sanitizer on it will get it flaming . Gets a lot hotter than any alcohol can ive used and cooks meat quick as a home stove on medium to high temp. Cooked a few steaks the other day on mine . BIG difference between that setup versus the alcohol cans I was using before hand. Both work good just something to have in your back pocket !

i'm not debating that your setup did or didn't work well. just another method to have in the arsenal is all and it's just as easy and takes up less valuable space. threw that out since u mentioned how long it took to cook. an idea just in case, maybe not for you maybe for one of your viewers similar to me lol@@ridetofood

The Mountain House chicken and dumplings are not too bad either and the Jet Boil is darn fine tool. I'll have to get the pan set up. I just burn water currently for the dehydrated grub and coffee. It is a pretty good stretch to get to Cameron Pass but a fun rip for sure. Nice video and pants are over rated.

I've been using a Kammock Roo for several years now. Pretty similar to the Eno. I've definitely gotten luck a couple of times being able to find a place to set it up, including once between two dicey trees in the Wallowas. I do use a rain fly most of the time (an Eno Housefly) because aside from some extra warmth, it saves me from waking up being covered with frost or dew. Also gives me some dry storage space underneath my hammock. It has saved me some embarrassment at least once. when I set the suspension too tight once and nearly rolled out of my hammock in the middle of the night. I do use a sleeping mat in a single hammock. You didn't mention this but I'm sure you are well aware of it. Sleeping mats are good because they provide a bit of structure and insulation for the hammock. But unless you have a system in place, those things can move around like crazy. Kammock has a mat that's designed to be used with their hammocks and it has a way to tie it down. Not perfect but much better.
