In this video I show you the best ways to cut different thicknesses of acrylics. Different thicknesses of acrylics require different tools for cutting them with precision and without damaging the acrylic. If you can't afford a laser cutter this is the video for you.

@@RODsDIY⁠ I want to make shelves for my coworkers’ lockers at work. The lockers are cleaned out once a month so I want too give them something light but sturdy so they can transport the shelves fairly easily at the end of the month. I think acrylic would be the ideal material. What is your opinion?

@@PirateFunk Of course. You can drop something on to acrylic and it won't break, like glass. It's thin so gives more space than wood. It's strong like steel, but it's transparent, so it helps with lighting a locker and finding things. Yeah, I agree, it seems to be your best option.

You are right. If you are a newbie, don't do that. As I have years in this I know there is very low risk of breakage in such a soft cut but still, a 1% probability is still a risk, and ending up in the hospital is not fun.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for your comment Finn. Which music don't you like, piano or folk? What music do you prefer? This is KZfaq library music, with no Copyright issues. There is not much to choose from. There is some hard metal, but I don't want to frighten my audience. Any suggestion?

@@RODsDIY I do have a great suggestion. Use only natural sound, the sound of your work, the sound of your voice. Music works to set a mood. I think that is wrong on instruction videos. Music is terribly misused on way too many videos, and licence free music is often just an insult to your ears and brain.

I think I'll have to have a poll in my community tab to see what others think, because it seems to me that people like to have some background music, at least in those parts where I don’t speak and when I speed up the video. When the sound of my work gets repetitive, music might help to not bore viewers. And there are other reasons one uses music: like hiding children screaming in the distance, dogs barking and neighbours music (that can cause a Copyright claim), but still, I’ll listen to what my audience prefers, and decide from there. I much appreciate your suggestion.

@@RODsDIY Having worked with video editing for more than 20 years, I think I know what I'm talking about. I never used polling to find music for my work. I understand your concern for your viewers, that's why I think you should challenge them by not using muzak, but instead concentrate on live sounds.

@@finnjacobsen684 a Poll is not to find music, a poll is used to find out what my audience prefers. The truth is, using music in some contexts, as well as not using it in others, in my view, are reasonable strategies, but I'm willing to change that if my audience prefers something different. The same with the kind of music (hand in hand with the mood): Hard, soft, romantic, relaxing, and live sounds, used appropriately can be very effective in creating a good experience.
