I've heard favorable things about the West End musical, or at least, favorable compared to just how much I've seen the Broadway musical get slandered online. I personally thought the Broadway Musical was mediocre. I liked a handful of the songs, I really like Broadway Wonka's design, I liked some of the extra things they did with the factory, but what really kills the Broadway Musical for me was Broadway Wonka's child-hating antics. I HAVE heard that West End Broadway Wonka has a more pleasant personality though.

Also have you noticed the French Musical Oompa Loompas? They look like JOHNNY DEPP WONKA BOWL CUT HYBRIDS!!!

Unfortunately no, not from what I can find at least. I'm just waiting for SVT to put it back on their open archive; the chances of it happening are somewhat high considering how I've seen a couple people who have contacted SVT about it. All we can do is wait and cross our fingers, either SVT puts it back on or someone rips the VHS online somewhere.

2005 Wonka's design just doesn't for Wonka specifically. It's alright for another character but not for one who's supposed to be this peachy rainbows old man who talks about his googly-eyed candy and drives a flying car. I feel like Johnny Depp himself, with his versatile acting, could actually play an awesome version of Wonka, but the direction he was given was just BAD. Don't get me wrong, I can see the appeal, I get that there's supposed to be a sense of catharsis with Wonka being mean towards the bratty kids, but to me it just comes off unnecessarily cruel. That's actually a major problem I have with the Broadway Musical, the one that toured the US. They did a great job with Broadway Wonka's design, I like some of the extra things they did with him and his factory, but the way they structured his personality just falls flat.
