In this video, we will show you the best wineries in Kelowna and the Okanagan Valley.
We left Whistler and made the 8-hour drive to Kelowna.
We stayed with family and our daily goal was to explore Kelowna and the Okanagan, taste wines, tour wineries, and eat delicious Okanagan fresh fruit.
The Okanagan produces 80% of British Columbia's wine.
There are over 182 licensed wineries with the majority of them situated along the Okanagan lake. Wine has been produced in Kelowna and the Okanagan since the 1850s.
Unfortunately in the early day's prohibition had wiped out most of Kelowna’s wineries and it wasn’t until the 1930’s when the wine industry in Kelowna and the Okanagan was revitalized.
There are over 60 different types of grapes that are grown in the Okanagan including, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, pinot noir, pinot gris, chardonnay, cabernet franc, and much more.
We visited Rollingdale Winery, Tantalus Winery, Vibrant Vines, Frequency Winery, Arrow Leaf Winery, Summerhill Pyramid Winery, and Ex Nihilo Winery.
These wineries are located in various locations throughout Kelowna and you would likely want to limit yourself to 3-4 wineries per day. Please take a taxi or have a designated driver.
We highly recommend taking a trip down to Kelowna and doing a wine tour, it's a ton of fun and very close to Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast.
