The Morimoto HID kit is fantastic (5500k). Light output is superior to the Phillips Zenon’s I had previously. I have a ‘15 Grand Cherokee with projector headlamps (originally halogen) - what a HUGE improvement! When run with LED’s in fog lights (I installed SNGL Focus) they make for a great combination and make driving at night sooooo much easier. It’s hard to believe the difference.

Morimoto headlight out after only 4 months. NOT happy. With a 2015 Grand Cherokee you have to pull the front bumper assembly off to access the headlamps and THEN test system components to find failure point. This means a trip back to the installer as this is a task over my back-yard mechanic head. Estimated cost $150-$200 and two trips to installer. Second guessing this install I should have simply replaced OEM bulbs with SNGL LED’s.

In May of this year I picked up the Sylvania Silverstar ZXE for my 2014 Jeep Wrangler JK. As you may know the JK series suffers from very anemic OEM bulbs. I just got the Phillips diamond vision. Look real good. But I kinda want something just a little more blue
@BulbFacts
@BulbFacts 4 жыл бұрын
The Diamond Vision is your best bet for halogen. They are a bit higher wattage (even though not advertised) in order to maintain usable output while being much whiter. All other 'xenon look' options are less blue, and the ones that are more blue are too dim to use as a main beam, such as the PIAA Stratos Blue

@@josephanthonycacioppo798 no problem. Keep in mind that LED is plug and play though, you can easily remove them with no damage just the same as changing a halogen bulb, especially the models without an external driver (which can hang out inside the headlight if it's a sealed beam). For halogen, it's picking between a bright halogen set like the Silverstar Ultra's, or a white set with reduced output like the Diamond Visions for example. Unfortunately you can't have both due to the limitation in technology.

I’m late here, good video very informative. I’m looking to upgrade some oem halogens on my truck. I don’t want to be blinding other drivers on the road. Will any of these work well with reflector capsules and not be a blinding issue for other drivers? Will the new bulbs still function with the DRL? Thanks for any help.
@BulbFacts
@BulbFacts 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Matt! Great question. There is no concern as long as the upgraded kit you are purchasing is approved in your country (ie DOT). Some are 'off-road' use, however all of the off-road models we have tested so far are not as bright as the road use kits. Because the bulb design is exactly the same including the filament in the same spot, there is no concern. Some headlights may have more glare than others, so just check to see once you install them, but again you shouldn't have to worry. I hope that helps and thanks for watching!

Hey Flaco! You'll want to stick with Halogen or LED. Since your headlights are tinted, I'd go with a good LED bulb to cut through the tint. Your best bet though is to remove the tint as it will drastically decrease the output, even the smallest amount. Hope that helps!

@BulbFacts
@BulbFacts 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Mygol! Your stock Xenon main beams will be about 4300k. You won't find LED in that color unfortunately, but we have tested many halogen bulbs, and there is one that matches the color perfectly which is the OSRAM Cool Blue advance. It was right at 4350k, and should match perfectly. For your high beams, you can do anything really (Halogen, LED, HID). If you are worried about matching the color, you can do the same halogen I mentioned, but the output is not as great as OE, so I woudln't recommend it. LED is the best choice really, and HID could be very bright, but you'll want a quick-start ballast if so. Let me know if that helps and if you need anything further!

I totally agree about the number 1 spot, I had them for about a year and a half, they both went out this week a couple of days apart, so the lifespan is not that long, but that is what you have to deal with if you go for these types of bulbs. The whiteness was superb, i have tried a few of these and osrams hyper blue are definitelly the best in terms of color. I put them in my 2006 hyundai getz and it looked amazing! :) The downside on these is the fact that they are not considered road legal, it also said that on the pack - "off road use only" , so you can't pass car inspection, because they are too white for the cars factory standarts, so you have to change them for the inspection, at least here ir Latvia. For me it's not a big deal, because the access to them is quite easy, but a thing to consider for others :) Overall, I love them, gives a good, clean, crisp look to the car, polish your headlights and it's gonna be amazing! :)

The thing with the car inspection is that the standard h4 bulb has to be no more than 55 or 50 watts, but these are 90 watts, that gives them plenty of power for the bright white light :)

@@arturstomsons3985 exactly, and based on our lifespan testing so far, some actually outlast by far. For example, the OSRAM Cool Blue Boost (80W) has lasted 2X longer than an original bulb, quite amazing! All other bulbs so far around about 1/2 of an original/OE bulb. Stay tuned for those updates soon, we are about half way through burnout out many bulbs :)

Hey, i have a 2018 tacoma and they have halogen projectors, do you think the zx3's can shoot out further (throw?), than diode dynamics SL1 or supernova v4 led's? Ive read that led's do not shine out as far in these projectors, so im leaning towards higher end halogens (looking for a whiter light too). Thanks
@BulbFacts
@BulbFacts 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Sou, the zXe's are a great halogen set, look for the Gold model if you can. However an LED set like the SL1's and SV4's shoot much further. The times of LEDs not throwing light as far was due to poor design, which we don't see anymore due to the diodes in the same place as the halogen filament. An LED or HID upgrade is the way to go for projectors.

@BulbFacts
@BulbFacts 4 жыл бұрын
For your Merc C250, you'd need to upgrade to Xenon/HID or LED in order to achieve the color like your DRLs. LED would be the best to match the color, but HID would provide the best output in your halogen projectors. Halogen is simply limited by the technology and when you go with the xenon-look halogen bulbs you drop output dramatically, especially for the very white ones closer to 5000k.

You can upgrade to a xenon style halogen, but the output will be much lower due to the blue coating. We don't recommend them in the main beams for safety reasons. Hope that helps!

So, I just put in some new blue tinted bulbs i got from Amazon, from Voltage Automotive. I can't find much information on the company at all. But I have the uncommon bulb type, H11b. These are super affordable. I replaced my silverstar ultras with these. In general, the H11b bulbs from Sylvania are $20-30 more expensive than all their other bulb types. Kind of stinks, so I went with these voltage automotive bulbs...got a 4 pack for $24! I think my Sylvania were about $75 for the pair.

Hi Frank - My personal favorite is the Sylvania Silverstar zXe and zXe Gold. They are not pure white like the Cool Blue and Diamond Vision, but they have a much better light output while still being much whiter than stock. Go for the Diamond Vision though if you want the 'bluest', and Cool Blue Hyper if you want the 'whitest'. You will sacrifice light output in your main and high beams though. Thanks!

Hi zimm7443, thanks! You are right, the Racing Vision kit is really a great option for an all-around kit. The best in my opinion is the zXe Gold kit, but it is a bit more expensive. Hey Steve! We are referring to the most popular OEM bulb which is an OSRAM Original. Hope that helps!

Hey Greg! We are currently in the process of testing the lifespan of all halogen bulbs, but based on our data so far, Philips seems to last a bit longer. HI Wolfgang, it will depend on where you live and what the local law is, but you may want to look into an LED kit, as they are much whiter and much brighter, and the newer models have good designs which emit an accurate beam from the headlight optics. The xenon/white halogen bulbs lose a lot of light output due to the blue-coatings, it's just a limited technology. Check out our recommendations here; www.bulbfacts.com/led-kits/recommended/

Are this Lights looking White or more yellow ? And can The Osram one can cause damage ?
@BulbFacts
@BulbFacts 3 жыл бұрын
Hi MBCar freak, they will appear closer to white, in some cases white with a tint of blue (Philips Diamond Vision tested at 5500k, pure white slight tone of blue). They would not do any damage unless they were rated at a higher wattage, but that will typically cause problems with the plastic connector which you can resolve with a ceramic connector. OE headlights are designed to withstand very high heat as well.

So, I didn't understand, which the whitest bulb your recommend?
@BulbFacts
@BulbFacts 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Faud, it depends on what you would consider white. Since this video we have re-tested using new equipment; The OSRAM CBB is 4750k, which has a very slight hint of yellow, but would be considered very white. The Philips Diamond Vision is 5500k and has no yellow, and a slight hint of blue. Both are less bright than OE. The best 'overall' bulb, which is still very bright as well as whit(er), would be the Sylvania Silverstar zXe Gold at 3850k. It's not quite as white as the others but significantly whiter than OE, and is much brighter as well. We (BulbFacts) have come a long way since this video, sorry for the confusion, and I do hope this helps!

LEDs don’t shine right on my h7 projector headlights, will halogen be better since they are round?
@theraptorchief4022
@theraptorchief4022 3 жыл бұрын
The reason LEDs wouldn't shine right is because the LED diode needs to be in the same place and about the same size as what the filament of the original halogen light was. So if you have one of those round or 3 sided LEDs it wont work right, you need to get the flat 2 sided ones Headlight revolution has a good selection of them.
@BulbFacts

Hi Gerson, an HID conversion is a much better option for projectors. The install takes more time but it provides a more accurate beam over LED.

HI Abraham! The zXe's are somewhere in the middle when it comes to halogen, with a whiter color, but not quite a pure white or blue. They are the best overall upgrade for halogens as they still have a good brightness output. If you want a bluer color, I'd recommend the Philips Diamond Vision. Just keep in mind your light output will suffer, and it'll be dimmer than OE bulbs. You may want to look into LED, although not DOT approved, there are a few kits that have very good output and produce a nice clean blue look. Hey MB Legend! You can certainly do that, but from our tests the results were sub-par for most high-wattage kits. Keep in mind too that they will run much hotter, although headlight housing can handle very high heat. If you see our chart here (bulbfacts.com/halogen-bulbs/chart/), look for the ††† next to the kits, those ones are higher wattage, between 75-100w vs 55w. For low beams I'd recommend a normal kit, but high-beams go for a high wattage kit like the Flosser which did very well there. Hope that helps!
