With 75396 coming out August 1st, now is the perfect time to take a trip down memory lane and review this older model of the same scene. It's also a great excuse to re-watch Return of the Jedi again while I build it.
Let me know if you picked this set up and what you think of it compared to the new Desert Skiff & Sarlacc Pit!

I think the beak is only supposed to be a tongue that drags things into the mouth. Most of the guys fall into the pit besides the beak. Kinda wish they would have never created the beak, only the extra tentacles, as it was in the original script and concept art.

The beak makes it a little less creepy that a gaping whole in the floor but I like your idea. Less of a mouth and more of an arm to feed the beast below!

@@mastermouldie But I actually did look it up and Boba in fact does get grabbed by the beak in the scene. The only one. Everyone else tumbles just into the hole. Idk, Lego should have made a UCS Sarlacc, with proper slopes where you can let figures roll into the abyss instead of those odd attempts. Less focus on the sail barge and skiffs, more on the scenery. This is always the crux of SW sets, they have zero scenery except a bunch of random bricks that they chugged at it.

@@Matt..S I think LEGO definitely need to pick one. The new set tries to reduce the skiff for the sarlacc, but if they made half of the sarlacc (easier to display and we can always get 2 to complete) with all the pieces, they'd be able to make it much more accurate!

Could have sworn I had this set but it turns out I have 2 of the older version. Guess i can buy 2 of the new one and take these apart for mocs. Yay

It's a shame there's only two Skiffs in the scene, otherwise you could build a whole fleet with 4 of them! There are some good parts for MOC building.

Price per weight is the best way to figure value. I mean along side of how many figs contained and how many r new and or exclusive of course.

Figures definitely have a big role to play but weight is much less affected by the size of the individual pieces used.

The fig weight is already included. I meant what we agreed to be what they r worth overall and then add that to the set. If a set is 200 parts and cost $30 but some parts r big, then it's worth the $30 but then maybe 1 or 2 of the figs will eventually be worth $20-30 each so buying it for $30 when retail is definitely worth it especially if ur collecting all the figs. Otherwise u will spend well over retail on just figs and not get the parts.

@@hoarder66 When I start live streaming, I'll have to have a section where we agree on figure prices and add that to the value. For now I might use Bricklink's average selling price, great idea!
