But John 17:5 doesn’t convey Jesus was asking his Father to be glorified with the same glory reserved for his Father. He asked his Father to be glorified when he once again occupies the very same space he has been occupying since his creation, beside God. Greek word “para” means beside, or near, or in the same vicinity. But regardless these verses are still problematic, not for Christians, but for people who accept the Roman councils’ doctrine of the trinity. The fact that Jesus is asking/requesting the Father to be glorified near/beside/“in the same vicinity” as Him demonstrates subservience. The Trinity doctrine has redefined the word “equal”. To be subservient to another does not suggest equality. Christ’s followers are to be subservient to him but are not equal in position, power, experience, age, etc. Jesus asking to be glorified is problematic not for Christians but for Trinitarians. If it's not a legitimate request then Jesus is being disingenuous. If Jesus can no way deny himself from being glorified since he supposedly is God then the request is invalid. The entire prayer in John 17 reads like a Son entreating his loving Father to do things the Son feels would benefit himself and others. Jesus is providing evidence by way of recounting or highlighting what he has done for His Father while on earth to merit the blessings of His Father and to get a favorable response to his requests. An accurate reading of Jesus’ PRAYER in John 17 is problematic for Trinitarians.

@zm42613 ай бұрын
@@toreyhorton1789 Well, there's truths such as Jesus obviously being sent by God and some of his statements such as the Father is the only true God. But there's also known corruptions. By "corruption" in the biblical text, we mean several types of alterations and discrepancies that have emerged over time: 1. Textual Variants: Differences among manuscripts resulting from scribes' errors or intentional changes, such as the long ending of the Gospel of Mark where Jesus appears resurrected. The oldest manuscripts, like Codex Vaticanus, end at Mark 16:8 without Jesus' resurrection, while later manuscripts include Jesus resurrected. 2. Interpolations: Additions to the text not part of the original manuscripts, reflecting later theological developments. An example is the Johannine Comma (1 John 5:7), known for being the clearest evidence of the Trinity concept in the Bible until being found a fabrication as it is significantly changed from what the oldest most reliable manuscript state. 3. Redactions: Editorial changes by compilers to shape the narrative or emphasize certain theological points. For instance, the differing accounts of Jesus' responses in the Synoptic Gospels, such as the variations in Jesus' reply to the rich man's question in Mark and Matthew ("“Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good-except God alone.") 4. Contradictions and Inconsistencies: Conflicting accounts within the Bible, like the differing narratives of the crucifixion. In Mark, Jesus appears fearful and shocked ("My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"), whereas in Luke, he is more composed, saying, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." 5. Translation Issues: Variations introduced through translation, potentially altering meanings. Translation choices can significantly impact the interpretation of passages, such as the Hebrew word "almah" translated as "virgin" instead of "young woman" in the Greek Septuagint of Isaiah 7:14, influencing New Testament references. 6. Doctrinal Adjustments: Modifications to support specific doctrines, such as the baptismal formula in Matthew 28:19, which commands baptism "in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit," a formula not mirrored in the Acts of the Apostles, where baptism is in Jesus' name only.

We still need to plant the seeds so the HOLY SPIRIT can water those seeds and cause it to grow...engaging people in meaningful dialog can help to put them on a path of questioning the validity of their beliefs....the truth seekers will have the intellectual integrity and humility to confront the indoctrination of lies...we need to give everyone a chance to hear the Gospel.....and trust that HOLY SPIRIT is working....shalom
@joycelynseales39683 ай бұрын
Praise The Lord. Arguing is not planting a seed. It only leads to Strife. An intellectual conversation takes two willing parties to listen and want to learn. It's important to go back to the scriptures to know how to deal with scoffing and and those that reject the Word of God. Jesus does address this issue with His Disciples. The Holy Spirit grieves over these issues.

According to this guys logic the Quran isn’t the word of God because the Quran you read was not written by Mohammad. Rather it was supposedly compiled by a lot of peoples memory and then copied down on whatever they could write it on. So it’s only the words of various individuals memory of what they thought Muhammad said. By his own standard that isn’t full enough proof to be the word from God.

The Muslim's problem is that the gospels were written after the fact? Read what FF Bruce has written... “The evidence indicates that the written sources of our Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke) are not later than c. AD 60; *some of them have even been traced back to notes taken of our Lord's teaching while His words were actually being uttered…* We have then in the Synoptic Gospels, the latest of which was complete between 40-50 years after the death of Christ, material which took shape at a still earlier time, some of it even before His death, and which, besides being for the most part 1st hand evidence, was transmitted along independent and trustworthy lines.” F.F. Bruce, “The New Testament Documents: Are they Reliable?,” (Sixth edition, 1981, pp. 42-43) So, his assertion is false.

The problem this muslim has is the gospel was written after Jesus life and it cannot be trusted. The problem goes both way the Quran was written well after Muhammad's death and he should not trust it . The standards this muslim has should be the same.

If only Muslims read the surrounding verses of John 17:3, if they did they would note the following: -“Glorify YOUR SON, that YOUR SON may glorify you” -“THAT HE MIGHT GIVE ETERNAL LIFE TO ALL THOSE YOU HAVE GIVEN HIM.” -“And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I HAD WITH YOU BEFORE THE WORLD BEGAN” -“All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come TO ME through them.” -“just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be IN US so that the world may believe that you have sent me.” -“Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me BECAUSE YOU LOVED ME BEFORE THE CREATION OF THE WORLD.” Here we note that Jesus is God’s Son, Jesus gives eternal life to all that God gives him (which is a claim to being divine since only God can give eternal life.), Jesus existed in glory with the Father even before the world was created, Jesus demands to be glorified by God which is something no mere creature could ever demand and Jesus indwells all the believers (an indication that Christ is omnipresent and therefore God since God alone is omnipresent). So, the context makes it clear that Jesus’ statement about the Father being the only true God in no way was meant to deny that Jesus is God as well, since he goes on to make claims that only God could make. Jesus is simply addressing the Father for being the only true God since this is what he truly is, but we know from the same Bible that the only true God exists as more than one person as the Bible plainly shows that both the Son and the Holy Spirit are also truly God. Since the Christian God is triune, this means that the three Persons can be addressed as the only true God both individually and collectively. Notice what the Father says in Hebrews 1:8-9 - “But about the Son he says, ‘Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.’” The Father praises his Son by calling him God, eternal King and for being the Creator and Sustainer of all creation! Does this mean the Father isn’t God either!? No! Both the Son and the Father praise each other as being God. In John 17:3, Jesus even makes Himself a coequal partner with God by claiming that eternal life is dependent on knowing both the Father and the Son - “this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God AND Jesus Christ whom you have sent”. The grouping of the Father and Jesus as the necessary objects of salvation is evident of this, in Islam this would be shirk
@universal17723 ай бұрын
you claimed -"Jesus is God’s Son, Jesus gives eternal life to all that God gives him (which is a claim to being divine since only God can give eternal life.)," You also said - "Jesus existed in glory with the Father even before the world was created, "" If Jesus existed in glory with the Father even before the world was created, *WHY DOES JESUS PRAY FOR THE GLORY?*

@@universal1772 Brother asked a very good question. Read Philippians 2:5-8: “Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” Thus, as long as Christ remained on earth in the form and position of a humble slave, enduring persecution, insults, injury, and subsequently the shame of the cross, He subsequently was in a position where he prayed for what He willingly set aside (His glory in this case). Once Christ returned to heaven to be seated alongside his Father, he was no longer be in that state of humiliation. He shared, once again, that same divine glory and sovereign authority that he had with the Father before he had come to the earth as a man which John 17:5 and 24 show: "Now, Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was... Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world."
