The beginning of the best TV couple in history. They made the show so much better by introducing us to Amy, and it was a pretty good show already. I think the invention of Shamy is what kept the show going so long.

Amy is by far the character that changed the most throughout the series. At the beginning she was a female Sheldon, just as much of a weirdo as him. But then she became a completely normal person, sometimes even a party animal like Penny.

I think it helped that she had friends who she was comfortable being more outgoing with. Sometimes we're afraid of getting out there cause we think are friends won't be supportive or encouraging.

I always think her desire to be best friends with Penny.....and did gradually was also a factor along with Bernadette. Penny was more a party girl...that could make Amy looser.

This is when the show got infinitely better for me. The first couple of seasons were pretty generic, but when Amy came on board, as well as Bernadette, that's when the show began to expand its strengths.

Agreed. They managed to create a show that wasn't limited to 20-somethings looking for love and success, yet it also didn't become a generic family show. I truly believe they could have made at least a few really good seasons.

Remember that one chick that was late to meet Sheldon, the one who had to translate Klingon into Sanskrit and was denied due to her being late. Well Amy was not late and she got Sheldon (plus being way more impactful with her first meeting), so let this be a lesson to everyone, if a great opportunity comes up in your life don't be late, doesn't matter if it's for a job, date, or get together.

There's also the fact that the show already Beverly. And she was introduced from the beginning as being just like Sheldon. The female version of him. If Amy stayed like this for over a season the show would have become quite repetitive and grow boring quick.

Just like the other comment mentioned, Amy was a female Sheldon. I didn't notice the gradual change, she changed in a snap. From being as brutal as Sheldon to being an understanding person. Still a good character though.

Amy changed a lot as the seasons went by. She became more and more human.

I would say the gang just got to see her human side as time went on. THIS Amy is guarded and almost aggressive in a way I recognise. This is how one speaks and acts when one is trying to repel those they find exhausting, which is most. She’s been bullied most of her life. She’s come to terms with being an object of ridicule to most people. So she keeps her shields up, and what we see is them lowering over time.
