Did anybody else notice how Penny totally threw Amy, her supposed bestie, right under the bus when Sheldon started complaining that Amy would expect those totally normal grown up things at home from him instead of the completely insane & irrationally selfish behavior he currently indulges in. Maybe. Also Amy and Howard both shared similar insecurities and cravings for intimacy and affection before they got with Sheldon and Bernadette. Amy wanted to sleep with Sheldon but Sheldon wasn't ready for it, which was the source of a lot of their frustrations. From that point of view Howard would have been more compatible with Amy.
