One of the best English Dubs out there for a monologue. I know people trash on Eng Dubs. But the voice actor for Schwarzwald really nailed this speech.

@@ObsidianHawk Most English dubs are absolute shit, no thought put into matching voice to characterization and passion. But Schwarzwald was PERFECT. He sounded like the crazed enlightened zealot he was. The philosopher who flew too close to the sun and dreamed of a world that burned in the light he found there.

Schwarzwald, as well as Alan Gabriel's Voice Actors in the English dub is actually much more fitting and sounds much more crazier than their Japanese variant.

Schwarzwald is definitely the Joker of Big O. It's essentially Batman but with giant robots and weird existential philosophy rather than simple comic book good guy fighting comic book bad guy.

@@sirmount2636 The creator of the series has said that it's heavily inspired by Batman, particularly The Animated Series. Sunrise, the production company that animated Big O, actually animated some of Batman: The Animated Series as a subcontractor for Warner Bros. before working on Big O.

While the show was influence heavily by batman the Animated series even having the same animation studio you do Schwarzwald a great disservice by comparing him to the Joker. The Joker is a chaotic force whose goals and motivations change from day to day and on a whim. One day he might be a silly goofy clown that wants to steal the worlds biggest whoppie cushion and the next day a mad man hellbent on breaking Batman and destroying the crusaders ideals. Schwarzwald on the other hand may be a bit unpredictable but his goals are clear he himself has said it. His purpose is knowledge and the dissemination of it. His methods are extreme but his goals are noble. He wants to break the shackles Paradigm Corp has place on it's people. He wants people to learn the truth he is a curious man whose sole motivation is fining out the truth. He is more of a detective than Roger, who only sees himself as a negotiator. Schwarzwald wants nothing more than to learn the truth and enlighten the people who so carelessly and cowardly try to ignore and hide from it. Schwarzwald has no equal in Batman for his goals are way too different from a traditional "bad guy" if he went about it a different way his goals would seem even righteous. If there is a character you can say is similar to the clown prince of crime in the show that would be Alan Gabriel a wild card who cares not for any goal or motivation as long as he gets to have his fun.

I dont know. Hhe did wake up some of those ancient mecha Deus' and used Dorothy for it. I know he had good intentions and wanted people to wake up, but it was a bit maniacal. I know it's like ' the empire did nothing wrong' joke, but all things considered its kinda fuzzy considering the whole Big O universe is a simulation and they were all players in a sort of elaborate game.

Schwarzwaldってのは「シュバルツバルト」、この包帯を巻いた人物の自称。・・・・80年代まであったドイツの”黒い森”という意味。近代ドイツの思想の象徴で、理性で追及しきれない畏怖するべき存在だった。それを意識したキャラになってるから言葉がくどい　ｗｗｗ ”黒い森”の無くなった以降のドイツ人は、それ以前の誠実さを捨ててしまった別民族っぽいと思うよ
