You said "Manu Chou" perfectly. It is Romain on the mandolin/ukulele and Goran on bass. I think that the French means "I do not love you anymore, my love".

Other reactors who love Ren & want to explore his catalog deeper; along with his talented group of friends such as Chinchilla, Sam Tompkins, Big Push etc., have a dedicated day called Rensday. It's usually every Wednesday but it can be any day of the week you choose & it's a great way to scratch that Ren itch, allowing you to catch up on all the tracks you're missing out on. Just a little food for thought.😁😜👍.

Manu Chao is a Spanish guy, living in Barcelona, also doing busking, being very popular in Europe and Latin America. He grew up in Paris, where his dad Ramon Chao, a writer had been living in exile during the Franco dictatorship.His grandfather had been sentenced to death. He was part of the band "Mano Negra", who were poular end of 80-s/ beginning of 90-s. Later (95) he founded the band project "Radio Bemba". This cover of "The Big Push" is awesome, Manu would love it.

This is such a happy sound, I thought you would like it, and was so rewarded by watching you both bop along to the song. And it is the ukulele solo that no one knew that they needed! (Love the rolled “Rrrrrs” but I’m not Italian in the least! 😂) ❤️🎶

Jillian, I’d suggest he go for more of a Southern sound (I am in North Carolina after all) but having heard Jeremy’s Southern accent, I’ll stick with the Italian! 🤣❤️

Ukulele, not mandolin. ;-) Manu Chao was/is pretty popular in Europe and Latin America. He sings in quite a few different languages, and his music is totally worth checking out. "Bongo Bong" has gone through several different iterations over Manu Chao's career. As I recall, the French verse was incorporated from another song relatively late. I think The Big Push has moved the French verse to earlier in the song, but I may be wrong about that.

What a lovely song! Even though they sang very fast, it was the inflections in their voices that I picked up. I also loved the ping off of the mandolin. It just gave it a bit of spice. It’s always fun to hear REN with a small group. It’s as powerful as if it were a full band. He’s amazing! And so are you two ❤ 🎶 Cyd

Manu Chao also just covered the song...the "actual Original" was actually from a band named "Manu Negra" = Manu Choa´s former band before the band split up in the mid 90ties and Manu Chao took a break for some years before he started his solo career in 2000....and the song´s titel was originally "King of the Bongo" released in 1991 and not "Bongo bong" released in 2000 and had a totally different vibe = "alternative Punkrock vibe"...Manu Chao then covered it 9 years later for becoming his "Solo debut single" with a Reggae vibe + added a french lyric part at the end of the song which was sung by his girlfriend (which here is performed by Romain) and changed the titel into "Bongo bong" probably because of the new added permanent "high pitched bong sound" during the entire song.

Bongo Bong is a cover by Manu Chao of King of The Bongo by Mano Negra, a band including Manu Chao, and the song includes the Dadaist song Je ne t'aime plus by Mano Negra, too, ... I put the lyrics in French and English of that one below.

Personally, I prefer pauses, rather than talking over the song. But, I'm no one, of course. Your wife rocks. Great seeing her too. I subscribed to you a while back, so I assume you don't always talk over the song?
