Күн бұрынThis week expediting in a sprinter class van we haul freight into Arizona. The expedite business can be difficult when attempting to find certain addresses, so then we contact the customer for directions and boy can the directions be.......um well.....interesting.

I delivered there one time in a simi truck. Man it was hard backing in the dock. I earned my money that day.

When I take a break at night for 2 hrs or overnight, I park at a hotel like Hampton Inn. They are near the interstate exits and nobody ever bothers me. I also park at 24 hr Walmarts, and other big stores that are open 24 hrs. I also drive a cargo van so there's no issues finding a spot to park.

The freight was very light. I one strap anything 300 lbs and less. 😮😮 Yes, I love expediting!!😁😁😁

Appreciate you! Yeah, those places in the middle of nowhere are especially hard to find when it's a work site and at night. It was pitch black. Lol

Hi Alex I been watching a lot of y'all videos over the last 4 months. I think I may try driving for a fleet owner first. Do you recommend Panther? I don't have my own equipment yet but planning on saving to buy a 3500 high top van etc.

Hey being an O/O of your van, or driving for the company in theirs, what’s the deadhead pay? Like if your needing to go a distance to get a load?

Depending on the dh mileage there may not be any pay for dh. Some carriers pay a certain rate after so many dh miles free. Varies. The key is to pay attention to how you're being compensated overall.

How many miles do you drive in a day usually

Depends on the run. My average run is 613 miles. I ran 110k loaded miles last year 135k all miles last year. 86 days OOS last year. No logs or restrictions.

If I have a run of over 1000 miles I'll run around 1000 in a day if I begin 1st thing in the morning.

Do all of the Owner Operators at Barret have the potential to run like you do? I’m interested. I currently have 1 full year of Class A tanker experience and am completing my fifth month of expediting experience with no official requests for time off as of yet. Will be considering opportunities as I approach my 1 year mark for my current expediting gig. Thanks.

I'm signed on with a carrier. I use that carrier's services to find freight for me. If you're looking at the avenue of getting your own authority then you'll be responsible for obtaining your own freight via a load board or soliciting direct customers.

Seems to me that you would have to get paid A LOT more to drive under your own authority and solicit loads because it is both time and energy-consuming when you are focusing on grinding ou the miles. Seems like the best solution is to have a stay at home spouse who takes care of finding loads for you.

Most of the time I do have my bunk available. Maybe 5 times per year do I lose my bunk completely on long runs.

How do you work hours of service? I have a 1 ton flatbed no trailer and have same restrictions and laws as tractor trailers do..

Unless things have changed I was told by the DOT that all commercial vehicles have to abide by the same guidelines I had some friends here in Oklahoma who were pulled over simply because they had a commercial sticker on the side of their 3/4 ton truck And I'm pretty sure they are under 10000 pounds and yet they were cited $600 for failing to pull into a weigh station... So please don't get me wrong I would absolutely be thrilled at the thought of expediting freight without having to keep logs or pull in to weigh stations but I'm not exactly thrilled at the prospect of being pulled over by the DOT a or a state trooper and cited for failure to do so.. 😂😂😂

@@alejandrogarza4533 I have been expediting for over 8 years and never pull into a weigh station. DOT can at any point pull us over and scale us with a mobile scale, but we are not required to stop nor log. Under 10k no requirement to weight stations and no logs. Over 10k but under 26k must scale and log but no cdl (certain vehicles).

Oh I see..thank you... The thing that rubs me raw so to speak is how it seems like every single DOT officer out there has different rules and regulations that they try to enforce...not the same as what the law book states
