That's a fantastic locomotive you've managed to add to your collection, Sid. You're a model of patience and knowledge when it comes to repairs. I'm always impressed by the ease with which you tackle these issues. Someone along the line really did a number on this model to make it unworkable. It's a good thing there are people like you to set things right. I know there's a lot of collectors who depend on your assistance when they have issues. Another job well done!

Impressive restoration of a beautiful locomotive. When I was a kid, I would be so awed by the unpainted brass engines at the hobby shop, but would wonder if they were meant to be run that way! I still see so much unfinished brass that I wonder if people are just afraid to paint and run it, preferring to keep it as an object to be admired on display. 😄 Cheers! You've earned a subscriber.

Like I told Norm when he got his. You've got yourself an awesome locomotive in The Big Six. It's my favorite B&O Locomotive as IRL, they worked my home area of Sand Patch near Meyersdale, PA as helpers, on coal drags and even Quick Dispatch freights. Great video and an awesome locomotive! My channel has the HO scale brass version.

LOL LOL I loved when you said this was a simple fix. I hope you realize your skill and aptitude with these electronic marvels is out of the park. I am the guy who talked to you about that Toonerville Trolley reversing with the 2 mini turntables at each end from the spring York show. I still want you to design a system for me, I looked around and only saw reversing units without the mini turntables. I will get in touch somehow with you when I am closer to installing it. To use one of your words, " You are amazing" lol

Beautiful engine. The worst part of working on brass is that it’s easy to snap or break the detail parts.

sid your work is first class. we need more younger guys like you in this hobby. you sure know your command control electronic systems. I love learning about all the different pcb boards lionel have used and ta studios. I wish we had a repair seminar by guys like you, maybe at york someday. I aways learn so much from guys like you and gunrunner john,alex m. and others on the ogr forum. I always try to fixem if I can, but if I am in over my head I call in the big guns like yourself 😊

Excellent video, Sid! Put me in the category of people hoping to see more in depth videos like this one. I live northwest of the Detroit area near Lake Michigan, and I hope to get involved with the Detroit three rail group at some point. I am just starting my latest layout (in the benchwork building stage) and I am trying to come up with a standardized control system to run things. This is a little more complicated because I will have both three rail and 2-rail trains on the layout (each running on its own right of way). Keep these great videos coming!

Great job. I think you're right about what happened to the engine in the first place. Another difference between the brass and diecast is that the diecast is usually heavier and may pull more weight.

Sid, outstanding fix. It wasn’t clear to me how you determined it was the radio board. Thanks
@SidsTrains
@SidsTrains Жыл бұрын
The way I ended up figuring out it was the radio board was by getting the locomotive running to start. Since I noticed all functionally worked, I knew it was not the motherboard, sensor, and or anything to do with the sounds. That left the radio board which controls everything. It's a common issue to have a radio board cause issues like this. It's a good place to look.
