The BIGGEST and SCARIEST Waves We've Ever Seen / Sailing in an Ocean Storm

We got stuck sailing in a massive Pacific ocean storm. 42kt winds and 20ft sea. The sea was angry and we hit dangerously high swell and extremely high winds on our South Pacific Ocean Crossing. These were by far the biggest and scariest ocean waves we have ever seen, but we stayed calm and faced the seas safely and effectively in order to stay on course.

Folks. Sometime ago while traveling in a older RV which was going much slower then all of the other vehicles. I was very anxious to get to the destination. I said to the driver ( my AA sponsor ) which own the RV can we go a little faster and get there. His answer was We’re right where we’re supposed to be or We would be somewhere else. I still think about it and I realized most days that we All are just right we’re supposed to be. Thanks for sharing your experience and journey with all of us that follow your passion and dedication. ❤❤❤❤

Hey there, just came upon your Sailing Post Time channel and look forward to going through your content. I owned Post Time for a while after buying her in the LA area and then bringing her up to San Francisco. A great boat that had been very well cared for and lightly used. I hope you enjoy many adventures together!

Hey guys- the High is seeing you out there!! That is such a nice boat… I’m envious. Funny to see you reefed with a code zero! Drifter sails are great for saving fuel- less motor sailing. You’ve gotta take what you get and be good with it- not so good for a control person like you. Enjoy the peace and sleep when you are not moving much and cook maybe..? I’m sending this before you have the big winds so there.

Nice vid but… offshore, no Jack lines? 4+ meter swells, gusts to 40+, and I see crew not tethered…or at times not wearing pfd… Not cool.

Hydrovane will save your crew's sanity and doesn't need power to helm. Not cheap, but a good backup to the autopilot. Looks like terrific weather. Best.

I am not a frequent commenter but your honesty is good and refreshing. You are not trying to be someone you are and you are open to your feelings in teh middle of the unknow and yes, uncontrollable. Life lessons and growth come I am sure. . And never think it is a "flaw." You are who you are and you understand yourself very well. Your journey is one for you and 99.99 of others will never or will not ever want to travel it. So your fears are understandable and not wrong. You have great and loving support and good sea skills too. Comparing to others is not helpful, just knowing what you need to do is good and bravery is not always a wise thing. I love how you are honest and capable but self-reflective. Good thing all are prayerful people as that must help as does the growing skill level of your team. I love your bird friend along for the ride. He must be happy he found you!

I know exactly those fears myself. The only time I was ever afraid was in the Indian Ocean when I watched the ship I was one go completely under water on the bow and then the stern would go under, but I learned then that as long as you have a buoyant vessel you popped right up. Also, you need to know what your boat is capable of so you can stay within those boundaries. Safe journeys.

Aw ....Your narration about your fears & anxieties was so greatly appreciated, perfect & human. You are Def not flawed bec you feel fear or to even be out there. You are brave to be doing this bec I doubt true " worriers " don't take Up sailing. My friend is a worrier and will absolutely not even go on a cruise. But your self assessment about your need to control ( we all have this need ) is correct. There is no control though and the non dualists teach that we are not running any of this bec a separate self is not to be found. So no actual controller, no actual experiencer but rather life is Experiencing us as itself. But I digress. The Buddha taught that we suffer as humans because we cling to certainty .. In fact we actually do not really fear "objects" per se ( the rough sea ) or situations /circumstances but crave " certainty " & of course, there is None. IF we can learn to embrace uncertainty & know deeply ( accept ) that our craving certainty, ( Constant Craving -- KD Lang ) is the targeted problem for work, our suffering lessens & we live happier lives. The opposition of fighting what is, Ends. The obsessing about an illusive future ends too and we can become more mindful to stay present bec we are not consumed with a future oriented, " what if ". I sense you are an introspective person. IF you haven't already taken a deep dive into the more Mindfulness genre of literature you must. Buddhism btw , as you may know, is not "religion " & I would never push religion on anyone. Rather it offers wisdom and discovery regarding the nature of reality & the mind. Fair Winds -- Enjoying your adventure & your friends. I admire you.

You are very good at the narration of your videos and in time your numbers will climb. Ye seem to be getting on very well while on passage and I'm sure that's not by accident but by doing a lot of biting of tongues and screaming into pillows 😛 Keep the videos coming and your chins up. Stay Safe & Fair Winds!! ☘

I've made that crossing, back and forth, many times. Just remember the boat can take more than you. Plus, quit whinnying, everything works out as long as you a good captain. Buy one day we hav 35 swells while running back to Oahu , down wind in a 60' cutter and actually after a few minutes in was fun. Maxed out at 16 knots.! Eastern Pacific Yacht Delivery Service!

@JohnLee-im7iu Goodness sakes alive...I traveled, sailed, and adventured for most of my 20's and to age 33 back in the seventies.... Did crazy things everyone thinks they'll do when they "retire with their IRA's and 401K". Sailed across the South Pacific with zero experience. Guess what, when you're 65+ you won't be sailing across the oceans exploring wild places because you're too OLD... and either you or your spouse will have medical issues or have lost the desire for real adventure. In my 70's now and have ZERO regrets for "wasting my precious working years" on fun and adventure. Delusional people think they'll still be doing real adventures at 70 or 80. Instead they be lounging on the crowded deck of some boring over-priced cruise ship staring at the ocean 8 levels below.
