It’s not that these movies are flops as much as they are over budget. If some of these budgets were cut in half they would have done ok. Lesson learned James Cameron should be the only one with $300M budget.

Why would it cost $350M for marketing and distribution of Fast X but only $45M for 65? This makes no sense.

As a general rule the bigger the film, the bigger the marketing budget, Fast X had a lot of trailers, press tours etc before its release, as is normal for a $300M film. Where as 65 effectively had a few posters and Adam Driver doing 1 or 2 interviews. The distribution part of the budget includes the cut of the ticket that the cinema gets, so again the bigger the film, the more tickets sold, and the longer the theatrical release the greater the distribution cost. It's not a perfect science but doubling the production budget to get the total budget is the most accurate and simplist method of knowing a films breakeven point.

I hate to think that race is reason that the Little Mermaid failed She was one of the better things in the movie The CG was terrible My kids liked it

I hate to be a spoil sport, but I'm GLAD some of these sequels, threquels, etc bombed. When a movie has a 'five' or 'ten' in it's title, it's time to get off your ass and think of something new. "Fast:You keep paying, we'll keep making them". Same with the Indiana Jones cash cow.

I'd easily rewatch D&D a few more times, it was great fun, the actors looked like they thoroughly enjoyed it....such a shame they didn't push the right buttons on marketing 😢

You are not figuring in the theaters take on these movies which is usually around 40 to 50 percent so these movies lose a whole lot more than you have listed

A movie needs to make double of what it cost (including marketing) so why do you have Fast X at a 32 mln profit if it cost 680 and made 712 worldwide? It would need to have made 1.4 billion to break even. Same with Quantumania. 65 mln profit you say but it made 465 worldwide but cost 400? Then it should have made 865 to get that 65 mln profit should it not? What calculation am I missing here? Please elaborate thank you.

Production budget x 2 =total budget. The infographic shows the total budget. So the production budget and marketing budget combined. Fast X Production budget - $340M + Marketing budge - $340M = Total budget of $680M Box Office - $714M Profit $34M (total budget - box office). Hope that helps to clarify.
