Im 57 years old and disabled. We have a cabin in mid Michigan and a friend of mine owns a tree service. He dumps all his wood at my place and my boys 18 and 20 cut split and stack the wood. Then we donate it to disabled veterans and disabled hunters in our area. We do not sell any of the wood. I just enjoy trying to get out and help others. And you are an inspiration.

Great job and video. I wish we lived closer because I just bought a 500i and would love to rip into a huge piece of wood like that just to see what it would do. It is easy for me not to charge people for work or very little, you never know how much they have or don't have and it feels good to help people. One person that I snow plow for asked why I don't charge and I told him it was for the love.

I really liked this video. Watching Billy Ray Disect this large tree. I have a similar tree about 5.5 feet at the trunk the base is over 6 feet. I am too old to try and stand up on top of the log to make cuts. I have a Husquvarna 395 XP with a 36" bar full house chain. The problem I am having is this tree over the years has accumulated a bunch of nails. I've bought an extra chain and have had it sharpened a few times. Each time the chain hits a nail you see it throw our sparks and I can feel the drag in the RPMs. Then instead of nice clean chips from the cuts, the saw just produces real fine sawdust. The chips turn to dust. It's so frustrating. Nice Job Billy Ray
@shapeshifter77533 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the perfect job for a carbide chain. They are twice the price but will probably get the job done for ya. Hope this helps
@claytonfite31973 жыл бұрын
@@shapeshifter7753 Thank you for the tip. This afternoon I was able to get three cuts into this log. I started filing the Gullets by hand I have 1/2 done and will finish filing the other half in the morning. I know the regular chain from Hursqvana costs about 45 dollars plus tax. I will look for a carbide chain tomorrow and do an online search tonight. Also, this monster tree landed on my shed. So I have roofing nails and shingles under the bottom between the dirt and tree. I clear a little and then cut as much as I can. This power saw has plenty of power never bogs down. The 395 XP eats up the wood and a few nails here and there with no problems except the chain gett's hacked on,. Awesome tip my friend
@shapeshifter77533 жыл бұрын
Clayton Fite I’m happy to pass it on. Fire fighters use those chains to cut holes in roofs to gain access. It should have no problem with those shingles n nails. Sorry to hear about your shed. It’s been really windy here in northern Alberta Canada the last 24 hrs so I went and checked on my neighbors property. There were a few trees down but no damage👍
